City launch legal action against the Premier League | Club & PL reach settlement | Proceedings dropped (p1147)

I agree. Anchoring is definitely a bonkers proposal but at least it has the effect of limiting spend with an upper limit.

But if that's what you want to do, then just come up with an absolute upper limit rather than a relative one. Take the average revenue of the top 5 clubs and use 70% (or some other percentage) of that figure. That means owners can invest freely but there's still an upper limit they can't go beyond.
I could get even more radical. Top clubs are limited by UEFA rules on spending.
So, have no rules at all for the rest which gives them a route to catch up. If a Jack Walker comes along and splurges millions to boost his favourite club, fine because if that spending is successful that club will become subject to UEFA rules. The redshirts wouldn’t like this. Good.

Unlikely doesn't mean necessarily slim - I don't think I said slim. If you are confirming that I said what I said, I agree. I said what I said.

Not in the slightest bit distancing myself from my initial view based on a single article in the Times. Why would I. Based on the information at the time (ie before we had the initial decision) that was my reasoned view.
Stefan, seriously, I'm not going to argue over the difference between unlikley and slim.

All of the media outlets basically saying City are celebrating a big win except for Slbsn who's putting a lid on it.
I reckon he's being sitting too often next to those assholes on Talkshite.
Don’t expect a City fan to go on Talk Sport and make a fool of themselves by saying things that are not true.

But alternatively the wretched station won’t allow a City fan to point out what the real story is. An attempt to stifle competition, the hypocrisy.etc.

So in that case i can’t see the point in taking part In or listening to the station. But it’s a free world

You keep saying this. But, is the decision not in a load of legal jargon, which very full of us will comprehend in layman's terms? It would be like me saying I had read the paper on semiconductor physics and part of the problem is you have not read it. Now, I seriously doubt semiconductors or electronics fall under your remit of expertise. So, I don't expect you to fully understand the implications of a scientific paper. What I would do is try to break it down into simple parts so that people can grasp the implications.
You don't seem to communicate like that. Your default seems to be 'I'm correct because I have read the decision'.

You may well be correct in your assertions. But, when most media outlets have now changed their tune and are saying this is a massive win for City, are you really surprised when people are questioning your views when you initially said City would not won win and that initially, it was only a slight win?

You also keep saying City have not won because they will just keep changing the APT rules until they are legal. This is a little like Triggers Broom. After 3 new heads and 4 new handles, at which point does it become a new broom?

At the end of the day, you have stuck your head above the parapet for increased media exposure, ego or for financial incentives. It does not help your interests to admit that you are wrong. When all the talk this morning is of a stunning victory for City, you can't expect not to be shot when all you keep saying is "I have read the decision"

You are just insulting people's intelligence, especially when suggesting the Premier League had significant and big victories, while City only had a slight victory. It's like saying Liverpool were the best team in the country and had all the best players They should have shared the title, despite the fact City actually won it.
Brilliant post! Thank fuck people are beginning to wake up to Stefan & whatever professional agenda he's putting before the club he supposedly supports.

I’d love slbsn to do a Buzzer Summerbee full on truth bomb and never be invited back again.

I wouldn't expect my critics to watch what I actually said in my initial reaction - I think it was a decent summary especially given the proviso I made clear about having to based everything off a single article. I urge caution based on that 3 times in this around the start of this extract, at 17 mins and again at 19 mins.

Can start from this point to capture my key points
