I like him, rate him, but thought he was absolutely shite last night. Especially in the second half.

Only 20 and puts in mature performances. May need 2 seasons to reach a world class level, but the potential is there.

Fair point, I wasn't considering that.

To some extent though we need somebody who is ready now. Obviously buying that player would have cost more than buying Savinho did though.

That was my exact thought (and I posted similar) when it was first revealed that we'd be playing Real Madrid in the Playoffs

Aside from maybe 3-4 players our regular starters are either past their best, not quite good enough for the elite level, or only 30 minutes from their next injury.

Gvardiol and Savinho are the rare exceptions whose potential and progress can be measured by an upward curve

However to beat Madrid we probably needed a couple of new signings to walk straight into the team.

Instead we've invested heavily for next season which in the long term is probably the best option

I don’t watch Newc a lot but there has been talk all season about how good Lewis Hall has been and Savinho just absolutely destroyed him. That 1st half was ridiculous from Savinho.
