Pep will also have an eye on the dipper game.

Qualification next season is essential.

Finishing 5th will secure it, finishing 6th means we'll have to win the final to qualify for next seasons competition.
Agree with all that, but then beating liverpool next Sunday isn’t a necessary requirement to finish 4th. From March onwards got plenty of games to play easier than that one.

I have a feeling that Madrid will get some surprises .Last match was like 5D chess match but this one will be different

Real are different gravy to Newcastle and are a seriously good side with possibly Ruddiger back too. Yesterday's performance will give us hope and we must keep fighting. Lewis and Gundogan should not feature at all and 2 or 3 of new boys should start.. However, top 4 finish and Champs league qualification next season is nailed on as others are slipping as the season unfolds.

for our side what i saw rudiger, alaba are back, vasquez will not be in the match, not sure if still injured or carlo finaly saw that valverde is miles better at RB. Hopefully carlo gets tchuameni into mid or out of the game and slots asencio rudiger at CB and i think we should be fine.

The obvious starters are

Eddie
xxxxx Stones Dias Gvardiol
Nico Bernardo
xxxxxxx
Savinho Haaland Marmouch

Nuñes has been an unused sub the last 3 games so assume Pep's gone off him.

Khusanov should play but I reckon Pep will go with Lewis. As we have a pretty attacking front 3 I think Pep will play the more conservative Kovacic, keeping Phil in reserve.

But as always Pep will spring a surprise.

You can’t pick Lewis ahead of Khusanov. That would be madness.

Surely he can’t go with Lewis after Tuesdays game.
He had no answer for Vini, not strong enough and not fast enough.
It would be reminiscent of when Bale destroyed Maicon.

I want to get excited and believe we can turn this tie around but I can’t.
We had a good game against Newcastle but that doesn’t make all of our frailties disappear.

Plus it’s Real at the Bernabau.

I just can’t see it happening.

Subs: Ortega, Lewis, Nunes, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Simpson-Pusey, Doku, Gundogan, Mcatee, O'reilly, Grealish

Don't want to see Kovacic start for City ever again. Put Bernardo in his place and have Marmoush behind Haaland with Foden on the right.

Pretty good shout but I don't think we need to start Kova as he'll get in the way of Stones, who can double up with Speedy. I'd start Bernardo or Grealish if fit.

Can't quite believe that I'm prepared to overlook KDB, but, he's far from the player he once was.

I'm much more confident after seeing our performance against Newcastle. Niko will surprise us again vs Madrid, he is the key to eliminate them.

Ederson

Lewis/Khusanov Dias Stones Gvardiol

Nico Bernrado/Gundogan

Foden

Savinho Haaland Marmoush
