President Trump

Not at all. I think the idea of wishing more economic harm on the US than Trump is already preparing just to make a point to the electorate is silly and self defeating. I'd expect it from maga tbh.
You knew full well what Chicago meant Cheesey. Chicago didn’t come up with the policies or tariffs that he is debating with us. That was the Orange wannabe Dictator.

Him stating rather tongue in cheek that he’d take the inflation hit as long as people keep flying, isn’t exactly mind bending.
You of all people, if you are not indeed wumming for the sake of it, should be able to work it out without wasting 20 pages of more pantomime.

I’m not American or living there like Chicago, but I totally get the sentiment of, the sooner the better the country sees through Trump and whatever it takes to get the people there, because this is only the start and the more he is accommodated the bolder he’ll get.
It’s all fun and games at the moment but this could get very serious very quickly.

The good thing to come out of all of Trump’s shenanigans would be to have a major cull of USA culture here in Britain.

It’s seeped into our culture far too much for my liking, would be great to have a good wash of it all.

If you look what is happening in Canada there is some serious anger building against the US due to the betrayal they feel, even among their own MAGA-lite conservatives. They are beginning wide scale boycotts of American goods and cancelling trips to the US which was a common holiday destination for Canadians. Canada of course had the additional threat of being invaded which was a large component of the anger. This has resulted in a strong sense of Canadian national identity being reborn as they push out American influences after what they feel is an attack on their nation from their "closest" ally.

I can only imagine if Trump goes ahead with his tariffing the world plans this same situation will pan out with other nations populations boycotting american products, particularly in Europe due to the same sense of betrayal alongside Ukraine dealings. I know of a few businesses already switching out US software and product supply chains for alternatives due to what is happening, once these things change they dont typically go back.

I will personally not buy or subscribe to anything American until the US sorts itself out and hope many others will do the same. The secondary benefit would be a reduction in American culture seeping in.

first of all it wasn't my idea, read back
second, i'm not really sure what you think you're spot on with, but i'm almost sure you're wrong about that too
third your "hit a nerve" comment confirms my suspicions you're just a troll
We knew that already. Of course he's a troll. Even when he speaks sense, he probably doesn't mean it.

Letting putin off the hook by offering an unexpected exit strategy
out of the fukcup in Ukraine,
Trump seems to be working on MARGA as well...

MAke Ruzzia Great Again.

Out of curiosity, what parts are most objectionable? I mean I can think of a few but all the times I’ve been over there it’s never seemed much of an overhang, except fast food outlets.

True, but plenty did, like this woman (rough quote): “I don’t agree with removing the Affordable Care Act, just Obamacare.”
The nickname contains the word Obama, a great trigger for them, so that became the slogan for a policy that will hurt everybody badly.

There's so many videos of Maga folk admitting they know they'll be worse off but they just want to hurt the Libs/Dems.

Absolutely fuckin crazy

I've not seen any of such videos. No doubt that the 30% or so MAGA cultists believe this - but many other MAGA voters I think are either single-issue or just want a change in governance, blaming Biden for inflation.

If it means people start spelling licence correctly, then I’m all for it.

I find it difficult to find anything out of Hollywood that I can watch anymore.
The sham American message in every comedy that has become so false is absolutely boring at this stage.
I find what is tried to be passed off as American culture as something I have no affinity with. It is not a place I even want to visit at the moment although my niece is trying to entice me over to Philadelphia.

I understand we are really talking about a continent and there is a huge diversity of different personalities of states and people, etc etc etc…….
but as it stands, it’s still full of Americans, sorry Foggy. No nice way of putting it. I couldn’t visit there and keep my mouth shut so it’s probably best I don’t visit.

Edit: I’ve just thought what probably irks me the most and what Trump in particular is spreading beyond his borders. What seems to go through your whole society, from sport all the way through business, is that it’s not how you play the game, it’s about winning at all costs. There is no empathy to the loser. Winning is all that gets respect.

I was brought up with the opposite instilled in me. It’s not the winning or losing, but how you play the game. Honesty, fairness, sportsmanship and the likes. Quality is recognised and celebrated but not at the expense of everyone else but you.

From an NBC investigative reporter Lewis Kamb:
CDC source: “We just had word that all our fellows and post doc staff are laid off effective immediately. The famous Epidemic Intelligence Service, aka the Disease Detectives, is no more. That’s 1260 staff. They are calling this ‘Phase 1’.”

I wonder how many outbreaks will cause more damage and loss than those staff.

There’s money to be made from illness.

Don't worry. RFK jr. is on the job and is going to make America healthy again! (LOL).

Anyhow, the US is fucked should another virus outbreak occur.

Yay! The chances of others suffering will increase — spot on with the plan.

It seems odd that the WH/DOGE doesn’t realiz(s)e that part of the point of large government is to protect against six-sigma events. It doesn’t always work (ala the GFC) nor is each agency obviously designed to do so, but near the top of the list is nuclear weapons safety (folks fired; immediately agency looks to rehire them the next day because they realiz(s)e their mistake) and the CDC?
