Spurs are a big club in the media only, and I'm pretty sure it's because both Spurs and the media are located in London

Ever since I can remember, football on TV has been dominated by pundits from the usual 'big' (successful) clubs: united, Liverpool, Arsenal and... Spurs? They've won 2 League Cups in 35 years! If things were actually based on recent success, we'd be seeing lots of ex-Everton faces instead

Honestly, it's why I've never been able to stand them
Perceptions of who are a big clubs and who are parvenu interlopers are often conditioned by your youth.

I had the image of Spurs being a big team because of their double win in 1960-61, another FA Cup win in 1962, and a European Cup Winners Cup in 1963. My second match at Maine Road was City against Spurs in 1963 and I was amazed that, relegation bound, City won 1-0 through an Alex Harley goal. I was in awe that City had beaten the mighty Spurs!

Since then, Spurs have won the square root of fuck-all apart from a few cups. Think of a few more successful teams over that sixty odd year period and you come up with the likes of Ipswich Town, Everton, Leeds United, Aston Villa, Derby County. Nottingham Forest, Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City. That is excluding the likes of City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Neville was trying to make the point that at the time of our takeover in 2008, Spurs were a bigger club than City but since then we've massively overtaken them. I just looked at the table for 2007-08 and we finished 9th in the league and Spurs finished 11th (55pts > 46 pts) so no, it's another falsehood perpetrated to try and convince Sky's audience we were some "small" club before ADUG.

We also averaged 7k extra in attendance as 6th best supported, dropped from 4th due to Stuart Pearce. Spurs were 10th best supported….. Massive.

Facts? What are these “facts”?!

We are talking about agenda and narrative here.

No success by City, no agenda, no narrative needed.

Ridiculous how sad some of these pundits have become, yet it prints them money like it’s going out of style, and they don’t even hide their glee anymore!

1961 more like.

Ipswich in 1962 and Everton in 1963.
And Burnley in 1960! Shows how much football has changed. Liverpool were the first team, post-war, to create the pattern of winning many titles in a short space of time.

I wonder how many articles there were at the time about them ‘ruining football’ and ‘changing the First Division as we know it.’?

Rule one in propaganda .It's a "fact" in the same sense that opinions become facts if you keep saying them often enough .

"Lickle City" has been doing the rounds for decades and Neville will have heard it again and again in the dressing room down the road when his brain was as soft as a pudding and his " daddy " kept telling him so. Now it's fully baked in . Poor man can't help it . He sounds like someone still believing in Father Christmas .

If nothing else, it was worth finishing to learn that the KC who actually represented us is a big City fan who went Parrs Wood High School and used to play for the City youth team.

Imagine the pressure on him to win lol. Fuck me, balls of steel that one.
