It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

This is just another Bellingham and Rice saga. Were not getting Wirtz and will not even attempt to bid on the astronomical fee it would take to sign him

Baturina (not bathtubs, autocorrect) looks a really decent prospect. Already captain isn’t he?

Sudakov, I’m less convinced by and he sounds like a cough remedy.
bati is dinamo’s best player by far.

the second best was sold to inter for 15m euros. it is expected baturina will be sold in the summer, my guess around 20m euros.
he doesn’t have the national team minutes he should by now coz our head coach would rather have old players on crutches there, gvardiol was the only exception to that rule.

do city buy players from very small leagues for the first team?

Hardly ever under Txiki, Zinchenko kind of stumbled into the first-team squad without ever being signed with that intention in mind.

Yet to see how we will operate under Viana, most itk's seems to think that is a market he likes to dip into. Signing Khusanov and Reis for the first team does show that he isn't exactly narrow-minded when it comes to earmarking first-team recruitments

but khusanov played in the french league, that’s top 5 in europe, don’t know how strong brazilian league is compared to europe.

baturina does have ucl experience but i think spending a year or two in a german ucl club and playing regularly, like for example haaland, gvardiol and bellingham did is a smarter career choice than potentially being benched in an elite club.

anyway, charles de ketelaere from atalanta is also being mentioned as an alleged summer target.

fernandiho is the first that came to mind but that was a long time ago now..

Exactly, that's why Wirtz would fit in so much better than someone like Musiala, who is more similar to Foden. What we need is a KDB-type player or even someone like David Silva. Someone who can actually dictate the game and unlock defenses with killer pass. I really hope this Wirtz transfer goes through; he’s exactly what this team is missing right now.

Generally not, but we’re in a different DoF era now.

I’d be more than happy with “Bati” as he’s a leader and has the drive that will maximise his potential. He always stands out in Dinamo’s games in the CL.

It’d mean no Wirtz though in all probability, so he’d be my second choice.

Maybe even send Kovacic back home too as part of the deal. (Not because I don’t like him, just his age profile)

Yeah but I'd argue Khusanovs profile (weaker club in weaker league, very little experience, heavy reliance on stats) is the sort of profile top teams very rarely target unless the plan is to loan them out. I could definitely see someone like Baturina with European Cup experience fit into this type of profiling for the first-team.

I do see your point though. And to be honest, while I do fint it exciting that Viana will possibly lean into a different market at times I still want the majority of the rebuild to be done around players with experience on a higher level and a good chunk of players that have at least showcased something extra-ordinarily on that level over a sustained period of time. And then he can supplement the squad with cheaper punts to his liking.

We only need to look at the rabid house of clusterfuck next door too see what happens if you try to build the Eredivisie All-Stars in the Premier League, and the Eredivisie is a respectable league on its own
