The "which famous person died today" thread

Will Hay was absolutely brilliant in Oh Mr Porter a long forgotten comedy genius .
Watched Ask A Policeman a few weeks ago. Still absolutely brilliant and laugh out loud funny after 84 years. Moore Marriott as old man Harbottle trying to recite The Headless Horseman rhyme had me in stitches!!

I don't follow the nags personally but this is a sad story - my Mrs suffered serious injuries a few years ago falling off a horse and has thankfully recovered but I understand that riding a horse is statistically more dangerous than boxing

Very sad. 25 years old. From a big racing family in Ireland. Terrible :(

The actress Maya Woolfe who played the love interest of Oz in Auf Wiedersehen Pet in one episode.

wouldn't call her a star of the show but still a sad loss all the same as I absolutely loved and continue to love Auf Wiedersehen Pet - very much a product of its time for the first series and a theme adapted for future series - " working on the site from morning till night...... "

Julian Holloway aged 80 RIP. Google him - you'll know him

I loved Auf Wiedersehen Pet and Minder and still watch the rerun's when they're shown.
Auf Wiedersehen Pet was special because if you've ever worked in any industry that was predominantly all male you could identify with every character in it.
Minder similarly. We had our own Winchester clubs in Manchester and throughout the country, those places we drifted into when on an all day session when the pubs closed for a couple of hours in the afternoon. Charlie's mini club and the Penny Farthing for me. Full of great characters and gangsters. As I age I look back on those times with great nostalgia.

Penny Farthing was somewhere adj the Hacienda as I remember?..full of taxi drivers and brass..just like the Golden Gate on Oxford Road station approach..which also used to attract off duty strippers from the adult 'revue' cinemas..also THe Auto Club...and THe Kowloon...don't get me started..

Julian Holloway is listed in the credits of the Sex Pistols Great Rock n Roll Swindle movie but I've never spotted his appearance despite seeing It loads of times

RIP
