Foden has 4 assists in all compets so far, half those of Nunes (!). For some strange reason, he isn't as creative as he is supposed to be. Both Savinho and Nunes have assisted much more Haaland goals than Foden. Even last season he wasn't great at creating chances. Rodri contributed more assists despite playing much deeper than Foden. He should get better at it, as a new creative player like Wirtz might make it difficult for him. Having signed Marmoush, now we are less dependent for goals on Foden. I want to see him to become a David Silva style player, capable of beating a few players and providing an assist but more often than not the one controlling things and playing the pass before the assist. We know he can score plenty of goals, we know he has excellent vision but his assist record shows he can still work on that side of his game. As you say, we have more of a goal threat from other areas now. Marmoush's third goal was the space Foden would have been in last season but was deeper this time and I think we might see Pep look to develop him into that player who can drift into the box but also do a bit more work from deeper on the pitch.

Yeah he actually played that role that you described as the David Silva role well.

He has gotten some criticism this season, but his underlying performance for the league are very similar to Musiala.

Both he and Musiala are around 0.30 xA/90, but their teammates arent finishing, hence the actual assists/90 being much lower.

Foden ranks a little higher on chances created, but does so while having much higher pass %.

In fact I saw that all 3 of Musiala, Wirtz and Kevin have an 83% pass rate (creepy how that is), but Foden at 89% really shows he is less averse to the "hollywood" pass, yet still ranks high in creativity, he creates in less risky ways... like David Silva!

Both of them are vastly over their expected goals showing great finishing.
 
He does create anyone can see that, the fact is he is dangerous around the box so of course he is going to have ago more often than not.
 
Fancy having some tram lines put in your hair and then performing like that

Slowly becoming a bit of a prima donna which is something I thought I'd never say about someone who has come through this football club
