Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Our 17 year old cat has more fight in her than that team. They better sort their shit out for Sunday.

Not sure what’s up with Pep at the moment but his team selections baffle me. We were never going to get anywhere with that midfield selection.

Any travelling fan should be reimbursed by the club. Disgraceful no show. Not even going to single out players or critique the performance, there was no performance. They collectively need to apologise.
Well in that case can I have my money back from the 4-1 defeat at Lincoln, or the 0-5 at the swamp, and the 1-2 at Y**k.

Reasons to be cheerful, part 3, dippers fans will be shitting their pants they’re going to blow the league again. We could have lost by a cricket score, we stole a 1-3. Er think that’s it.
Pep didn’t bother his arse tonight. Probably can’t be arsed with away trips when he’s got more on his plate at home. Playing Gundo is a liberty, playing Gundo and Silva a fucking big liberty, playing them two and Foden major piss take. At least big Erl, one of the only players to emerge with any credit this season was spared this shitshow.

I think ultimately, they beat us with pace. There were times in this match when they were running at us and we looked a mess. Just doesn't seem to be alot of communication out there. Especially on defense. No one is on the same page.

If anything else, I think the game has evolved past us. Sure its nice to have possession. But we don't seem to have purpose or ugency. Game has changed to be more pacey. Faster. Less methodical. We need to get some players in who can bring that.

Overall, I think this game has showed its the end of an era. Stones, Ederson, Gundo, Bernardo. All need to be moved on.

Glad they only got 3 in the end.
Totally out played by a better team.

On the plus side Khusanov is definitely a player!

You know what? 3-1 wasn’t that bad a result. Should’ve been 3-2 if VAR would’ve done its job and checked for a penalty at the end too.

A few positives - mainly Khusanov and a first goal for Nico.

They’re better than us. Which is fine. But we kept playing and put them on the back foot for the last 25 minutes I thought. Played with a lot of personality. IMO anyway.

Onto the FA Cup and the top 4 charge.
A penalty awarded does not mean a goal.

Even if we scored it the games is different and we don't get the opportunity to score the goal we did.

It still would have ended 3 - 1 at most with or without the penalty

Chastening result, but expected. We know we’re light years away from that horrible lot so leave your cheque book out, Mr Sheikh, it’s going to cost you. The first batch look okay but we’ll need a lot more.

Football at this level is tiny margins. We only have to be 5 or 10% off the pace to make the difference. Sometimes a team can compensate, but the early goal and change of game plan after 5 minutes didn't help matters. The better team on the night won.

And that's all I have to say about that.

That’s probably the best Madrid side we’ve faced over the last few seasons. Game was over really after the home leg

Thought Khusanov played well and kept Vini reasonably quiet.
Nico looks like a 2019 Rodri. Obviously got all the talent but may take some time to reach his full potential

Not really changed much we need a really good attacker (preferably Wirtz) and least 2 mire good players

Actually a little fortunate they’ve took there foot of the gas and didn’t make it a 5/6-1 game
It may have been the best Madrid, but it was absolutely the worst of us.
