Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

If you don't believe u can win a game then u sure ain't going to a win game. No belief from the 1st minute no pressure on ball no runs in behind players turning back instead of running forward (foden) nobody willing to dribble with ball and try and make something happen. Been the same all season away from home against the better teams. We are a long way off challenging for the top honours at least 2 or 3 years. I'd get rid of the keepers all defenders bar the 2 new lads and gvardiol. Rodri and gonzalez stay in the midfield hopefully foden can find some form next season. Savio marmoush and haaland stay too the rest are even squad players at best or need replacing.

Very poor defending for the first goal set us up for what followed , the heads went down straight away and Stones going off compounded it

We were just going through the motions then until Madrid last interest in the last 15 minutes

A few things to note

Marmoush isn’t a lone striker , he needs to play off a target man , especially against decent opossition

Bernardo offered nothing , not too sure what his role was to be honest, Gundogan was slight better but only on the ball , off the ball he was chasing shadows again

Nico had a sobering night after Saturday , didn’t really stamp his authority on the game

This team lack belief away from home when up against it , need another top quality in centre midfield. If only there was a 25 year only Yaya Toure out there, he would be perfect alongside Nico and Rodri when he’s back
Yaya was a unique player - there is no player out there like him with his skill and size.

When pep arrived we had pace on the wings played fast flowing football all round each year since we have got slower and slower
,other teams know we are slow and play us to there advantage
Peps system has been sussed it’s the same in every game,it’s time for a change in our game play

They were much better than us.

One things for certain it puts to bed the city play better without Haaland bollocks well and truly to bed for me.

Not glad we’re out but at least we have focus now.
In fairness Pep guaranteed we couldn't test that theory with his ridiculous formation and lineup

A penalty awarded does not mean a goal.

Even if we scored it the games is different and we don't get the opportunity to score the goal we did.

It still would have ended 3 - 1 at most with or without the penalty

That’s the spirit

Madrid a good team but…. Out with a whimper.

Foden and Dias awful for me. Poor team display, poor on an individual basis and poor tactically.

Weird positioning in the first half. Why was Savinho playing centrally and foden out wide? Where was Marmoush supposed to be playing?

Why are we so desperate to play the ball backwards with no pressure on us? So many times Foden, Nico and Gundo just popped the ball backwards to wherever it came from immediately when there was time to turn.

Only watched on telly tonight but I don’t get why pointy and the twats next to him were trying to make a thing about khusanov being nervous etc… he was our best player.

We’re frighteningly one-dimensional. Don’t get me wrong, give us time and space like Newcastle and Salford and Ipswich did and we’ll fuck you up, but get in our faces and we’re as soft as puppy shit.

We don’t tackle, we don’t press, we lose our shape constantly and tonight we got dragged around and made to look leagues below them.

Sadly, we’ll play exactly the same way again on Sunday and get pumped. Long ball to Salah after 7 minutes to give him a 1 on 1 and he’ll score.

Up the fucking blues.

Feeble surrender after conceding that early goal. Feel for the 4000 city fans over there, because if they knew the weak effort that was going to be on show tonight, they might have thought otherwise

We lost to a team who were seriously good on the night. Can’t judge right now how far that was because we allowed them to be, but we never had a foothold. Khusanov is going to be great. Stupid competition in this format anyway. Looking forward to Sunday. Won’t lose any sleep over tonight

Next time Pep, keep your pre game thoughts about your beloved Spanish teams to yourself. Footballs a mental game too you know!

i dont agree with your statement. they came mid table and are beatable by the best teams in the premier league which we are very far away from

we havent beaten anyone decent for nearly a year - maybe Villa last April. our last win against a really top european level side was probably the inter final
Villa had quite a few injuries that night as well.

I think Savinho is colour blind, he kept passing to the referee.

I loved how Khusanov ran down Vinicius, I didnt realise he was that quick.

I ended up watching it in silence. I had to turn the commentary off. Crimson Clive Tyldesley on CBS was cringeworthy.
