Dreading it
Nah. Games to dread were when we were staring relegation or when we started on this journey just to qualify for CL football. You can’t win everything every year, or expect to win the big games.

What we have been blessed with is doing both more than most can dream of, of late, but maybe the cycle effect of football is that we will not win as much the next few years, but will win the odd pot here and there whilst we fully rebuild. Then we go on again.

Nothing to dread.

Not complicated is it. The second big cycle under Pep is over, time for the third. This is a repeat of 19-20 but worsened by injuries and the average age of the squad.

The old lads are done and need moving on. The younger lads are a bit burnt out after giving everything four seasons in a row - one of which was a treble. The new lads need a bit more time to bed in.

Squad's not up to two games a week this season. Glad we're back down to one now. Let's regroup, focus on finishing 4th/5th, and see if we can have another day out at Wembley for the seventh season in a row.

These are incredible days. I can tell you the name of a team not far from the Etihad who are wishing right now that they were getting beat 6-3 by Madrid instead of worrying about relegation.

We'll be reet.

The Senior Players let the club and fans down tonight, Does Dias want to be here ? The Captain my arse

I want to see the old ruthless Pep back again. Like when he fucked Joe Hart off without a second thought because he knew he wasn't right for the type of football he wanted us to play. Playing old, worn out players over and over needs to be ditched.
But he knows this. We don’t have the replacements in. It’s a stupid argument. We can’t play players we haven’t signed yet

When do we start talking about Pep?
we dont

No need - you cant revive something that is clinically dead as this team is.....

what needs to be done is ruthless change in the summer getting rid of some legends - people need to accept this.

Why?

What would have made a difference?

People are living with their heads in the clouds if they think KDB makes the slightest bit of difference in that game...infact I would wager it would have been worse....he tracks back and defends less than Gundo who was completely annonymous today and the only player that you could question whether he should have been on the pitch...but it would have been Kova to replace him and that would have been that

Haaland - injured and couldnt play but again with their midfield dominance he probably makes little difference.

Grealish - has been very poor for a season and a half baring the last 20 mins he played against Madrid in the previous game - but clearly Pep has a problem with something with Grealish and Id wager again its something to do with his lifestyle to put it politely - either way he aint making any difference...

So who else

The squad aint good enough anymore....too many either young and inexperienced players or players that either arent good enough anymore or just cant stay on the pitch long enough

This game again shows the gulf that is growing between our squad and where we once were.

Stones - finished - cant be relied on physically
KDB - finished - Pep knows he aint got the legs hence why he aint played - if he plays vs Liverpool we will see the same problem
Gundo - finished - same problem

The new lads played ok but you can see that with all of them they have a lot to learn and are not at the top level yet - and thats ok as no one can expect that from them but thats another 3 players on the pitch but who would you have played instead of them
Rico at full back would have got murdered.
we have no cover for Rodri as Pep has tried every other possible combination and its been really poor
Mamoush - who starts in front of him tonight with Haaland injured? - there is no one.

SO how does pep actually change it? - answer is he cannt do it.
The real issue is that the senior players who were the cornerstone of our successful squads are now finished. Walker, Stones, KDB, Gundo and probably Bernardo as well.

We lost, deservedly so as that is where we are at in this moment - we are not the team we were 2 seasons ago - no where near and noone could expect that with the decline in KDB, Gundo,Walker, Stones, and the loss of Rodri

Time for people to start to accept this as it has just been laid bare infront of you. We have seen the marker of where we need to get back to and we are 2 steps behind them at the moment.

Rebuild needed and we have started it but not there yet
It wasn't so much the personnel, for me, as the formation, which was utterly nonsensical.

To play two up front together and have them completely isolated from a flat four midfield some thirty yards behind them was never going to see us create anything. What's the point in having pace if they are so high up the field that they are never going to get the ball from a painfully slow midfield at moving that ball forward?

I can't remember the last time we played 4-4-2, so to try that today was just bizarre. It really was a piss poor set-up and that was apparent from the first ten minutes.

After 33 minutes I’d have taken 3-1 in a heartbeat

At that point it was starting to look like a 5 or 6 nil

Hopefully that’s the last time we see dads army in our midfield
Wouldn't bet on it, but that time is getting nearer.

Yeah he played well against Newcastle. But we all worried that two games in four days for him was probably step to far. He was really bad tonight. He wasn’t alone. But we can’t accept a shit performance because some others was as shit
There were many shit performances tonight, Gundo was shit but he wasn't the worst, Savinho WTF was he doing ? Gonzales scored. but was utterely anonymous for 92 minutes, Foden's sole contribution was a shot from 40 yards out, that is probably orbiting the moon right now, Dias started the mess with whatever he was trying to do, Marmoush supposedly started the game, but nobody noticed, i've probably missed some that were worse.

Don’t think we need massive spending a fullback and a runner. Need to rid off some injury prone players I love them but it’s becoming counter productive we’ve not had a fully fit same back line all season I don’t think that helps.

Think some have lost the fire. We keep going they certainly don’t enjoy losing even if they have given up.

Let’s make sure we get behind them and make it difficult for the scousers.
And a keeper, Eddie fucks up most games these days.

Honest ot hurts me to say it I've loved the time with him , but it's over it is ,,people have to admit it and stop been blinded by what's happened to what is now the past
I doubt that even the most blue tinted City fan is saying anything other than he’s done. He’s been finished since he came back sadly, unfortunately the only person who doesn’t seem to see it is Pep.

Bernie and Gundo need to join Kev in being put out to pasture, wouldn’t be anywhere near a starting line up for me between now and the end of the season.

Appalling team selection which served up no surprises.

The only slight hope I have is that surely to god it can’t be difficult to see who needs to be culled in the summer.
he does not fancy Nunes and Kdb atm is similar to Gundogan

A totally shapeless and dejected looking City side there tonight for long periods.
The difference in pace and power in the two sides was stark.
Gonzalez wasn't bad but had little around him to support him.
I had hope all day after watching Celtic last night thinking the tie wasn't over and if we dug in and defended well we could have a chance, that lasted for 3 minutes and one punt upfield that had Dias and Ederson all over the fucking shop.

Glad that the CL campaign is over now to be honest. Put us out of our misery. Lets hope the new faces can get blooded in until the end of the season now.
