Honestly love him. Playing out of position, asked to keep the fucking width, away at the Bernabeu, against Vinicius and he kept fucking going. Beasted Vinicius in a footrace a few times, made a nuisance of himself going forwards and all this with only sharing a common language with Scott Carson. Love it.

Pep should have put him in the middle. We got cooked for pace on numerous occasions on route 1.

Peps positional fuckery is maddening at times.
I hope you mean the middle of defence lol

Pep had no option tonight because we didn't have anyone to match the pace of Vinicius at RB.

Hardly fair to play a young lad who’s been here 5 minutes against the self-styled world’s best winger - out of position too. Unfortunately there were no credible alternatives, such is the degraded state of the squad.

So it was good to see him recover impressively from an understandably shaky start.

He’s on a fast learning curve and should play every week to move up that curve.

The narrative the commentators were pushing was disgraceful. He had a good game overall, won a few duels and just got ignored on commentary each team.

It worked as well as my WhatsApp groups all soaking up the shit that was being spouted as the truth.

He will be a very good CB, confident in that.

We needed pace in the middle though. Mbappe is the guy who ripped us apart.

It was hard to shoehorn Dias back in without moving Khusanov.

In hindsight, maybe Nunes could have been tried at right back and Khusanov in the middle.

Dias was always playing though.

We’ll have to put up with that shite for a while as they have their narrative from the Chelsea mistake

He’s hardly put a foot wrong since , he was playing out of position tonight and was probably a 7/10 overall , Vinicius gives anyone a torrid time

Lack of pace in the middle was fairly fucking obvious after the 1st goal huh?

Pep did nothing.
Baffling.

I can't disagree with your points. However, I would have had Stones alongside Gonzalez and Ake with Dias.

I don't believe we would have been good enough anyway, as it is just the end of our team cycle.

It’s not much of a surprise - they’re both so dumb they make dirt weep.

Khusanov is 20. Imagine what he’s going to be like when he’s 25. Turdinand and McPointy can’t because the stupid have no imagination, but anyone with a functioning frontal lobe can see he’s gonna be a star.

I keep thinking that a back 3 (Ake Dias Khusanov) with wingbacks (Gvardiol & Nunes or Savinho) would be a good option against good teams.

I still think Khusanov is best in the right of central defence and sprint over to the wing when necessary to clear up. I'd love to know his fastest 100m on a running track. It has to be at least in the mid 10s.

Guy has to have some mental toughness for Pep to throw him to the wolves knowing how it could end up.
I don't understand this "throwing to the wolves" thing, you're a professional footballer being paid millions to play, you should be able to play against anyone , if you make mistakes or look like shit so be it, you need to learn from your mistakes and improve, you won't learn shit if you just stay on the bench and only play against cannon fodder.

While not actually playing particularly well, he did keep Vinicius Jr quiet.

He's a center back being thrown at right back against Real fucking Madrid. That's a pretty fucked up situation to be in considering everyone around you is out of form or out of shape and you've been in a new country less than a month. Playing or not playing today doesn't really mean anything as he was one of 4 options at that position.

Between this and the Pep thread, you might be best off having a break from the forum for the night.

Did a good job, never let his head drop either. The future is bright and an excellent experience for him even if it didn't go out way by a long stretch.

Pep was expecting us to keep the ball better and create more chances rather than consistently give it away and let them have acres to run into.

The first goal was abysmal defending but there was just no pressure on the ball and that can't have been the game plan.
