President Trump

Terrible, yes?

The Trumpland Diary

Let me give everyone one quick example of why Elon and his pack of flying monkeys at DOGE aren't quite the savvy tech geniuses playing 4D chess MAGA seems to think. They're more like a bunch of idiots playing checkers with rocks, bottle caps, and some saltine crackers the high schoolers keep nibbling on.

Here's how the idiocy began:
1. A wanna-be political influencer named Mario Nawfal went over to USASpending.gov and uncovered what he THOUGHT was a $9M contract between the Department of Defense (DOD) and Reuters (the news outlet) for a nefarious psy-op.
Nawfal then tweets out to his 44 million followers: "DOGE investigations reveal mysterious Defense Department payments to Reuters for "large scale social deception" project between 2018-2022."

2. Elon Musk sees Nawfal's tweet, reads it, doesn't bother to double check the story about what HIS OWN department is doing, and shares it to his 218 million followers.

3. Donald Trump reads Elon's tweet, and "truths" it out to his [sad] 9 million followers on Truth* Social, calling out the "Radical Left Reuters" and demanding they give back the money!!!
Here's WHY it's 9 levels beyond idiotic:
If you go to the USASpending.gov website (which Nawfal actually provides a screenshot of), you can plainly see the contract in question is between the DOD and "Thomson Reuters Special Services LLC."
REUTERS is a news outlet.
THOMSON REUTERS SPECIAL SERVICES is a cyber security firm ( https://www.trssllc.com/ )
Other than having the name "Reuters" in common, these businesses are different entities to each other.

"Okay, Shane, but then why did the DOD give THOMSON REUTERS a $9M contract for some 'large scale social deception'?!? Why is the DOD paying ANYONE—even if they're not a media outlet—to engage in 'large scale social deception?'"
THEY DIDN'T!
Look at the ENTIRE line item Mario Nawfal took a screenshot of:
ACTIVE SOCIAL ENGINEERING DEFENSE (ASED) LARGE SCALE SOCIAL DECEPTION (LSD)
Thomson Reuters Special Services LLC is a cyber security firm that was contracted by the DOD to provide cyber DEFENSE AGAINST "large scale social deception."

This contract DOGE "uncovered" doesn't involve in any way the media outlet they're naming. They got confused because 2 different companies have the same name. And the actual contract they're freaking out about does the exact OPPOSITE of what they're claiming it does.

And here's the problem.

About 10 people on here see your explanation, which is several paragraphs long.

200 million people see Musk's lie, which is two sentences. And they *want* to believe it.

We're fucked.

So what happens if a judge passes down to Trump what he’s doing is illegal and he says fuck it? You’ve given far too much power to one man and it’s coming home to roost now, I await the jack boots and swastikas to appear on a parade down 5th Avenue soon.
I think Trump has said many times that he'll abide by judicial rulings. So the scenario you paint seems unlikely.

Remember Trump's first term when we were told 'The adults in the room will keep him in check'?

He fired them all and replaced them with subservients, sycophants and cunts, and lets the Billionaire man-baby feed him his lines.

What a monumental fuck up.

Facts don't matter at all to Trump/Fox News/OAN/etc. What matters is that the "news" is sensational and that there's some source - however incredible - that Trump et. all can point to.

Remember the, "They're eating cats and dogs!" claim? This is exactly the same sort of misinformation that once spread, will never be corrected - and in fact they'll double down on this - and pretty much everyone who voted for MAGA will believe it.

Don't think that will go down well with your average American especially with how much they love going on about their freedom from the British Empire and no monarchy. Won't be long before Dax says it is a joke and he is just trolling the left. Like that is something a fucking rational world leader should be doing.
Nope.. its not something a President should be doing.

Sadly, the “most” to whom you are talking aren’t here, don’t read news, but sit in their lounger watching Faux News while eating their dinner and quaffing their beer! The other part of “most” stand to make BILLIONS from cozying up to Putin and are happy as a clam!

So, as it relates to foreign policy, there are the “ferners are bad and we want them to stay where they are (the “I know nothings”)” and the “there’s so much money to be made, why are we in a Cold War with Russia?” gazillionaires!!

The vast majority of people reside in the massive gap between those two extremes!
You used the word ‘most’ CB.
I quite deliberately didn’t.

Nope.. its not something a President should be doing.

And what happens now is he just allowed to post whatever he wants and play god? Who can push back against this kind of thing and apprehend him? We all know full well if Biden had posted that you would have armed hillybillies going ham.

If Trump has been compromised and it’s been going on years why have the intelligence agencies done nothing about it?

It's a very valid question. I suppose there's a number of possibilities:
  1. They are in the process of doing something about it and we just don't know it yet.
  2. Given the potentially huge implications of any intelligence intervention they are biding their time or have a red line he hasn't yet crossed. Even if they have credible evidence, in a post truth world is that enough to allow an orderly removal?
  3. US Intelligence is also sufficiently compromised that it's ineffective. I know that sounds fanciful but we live in a world where Tulsi Gabbard is the head of US intelligence and that makes no rational sense whatsoever.
  4. My best guess is this...I know don't much about the US intelligence services but I have read Defence of the Realm the authorised history of MI5 by the historian Christopher Andrew (a really interesting read btw) and that prompted me to read some of his earlier work. What struck me is that intelligence work inevitably has a political dimension, with difficult questions around the nature of governance (he is after all the commander-in-chief), is complex and unpredictable with success or failure hinging on small margins and parameters and therefore is fraught with miscalculations and errors. There's probably assumptions the intelligence services have made about how congress and senate will function to contain risk, that have turned out to be incorrect. Add in that complexity of meaningfully proving anything in a 'post truth' world and it's possible they are playing catch-up like the rest of the planet. It's not like the US intelligence community doesn't have a long history of intelligence failures and they are far from the only one.
  5. Oh and I suppose there's the possibility they are running him as the greatest double agent in the history of spycraft but I'm not hanging my hat on that one.
The alternative of course is that he isn't compromised but then how do you explain his specific behaviour in the last two weeks? The idea that he gives a monkey's about peace is ludicrous; if it was only about 'US first' policy you can do that without destabilising the west; if he's just insane the same question applies around why the intelligence services have done nothing though in that case it's not the role of the intelligence community to invoke the never used (to unseat a president) Article 25.

Yup. And instead of focussing on what the debate should be, it’s instead having to debate what should just be considered the facts, which is another reason why they do it.

That’s the post truth world for you. It’s a race to the bottom that’s accelerating all the time.

For posting a stupid joke? I am not aure you have a good grasp of hillbillies. Lol.

Meh.

Maybe Trump is compromised. Occam's razor suggests that he's possibly not - Trump loves dictator strong men - Kim Jong Un, Viktor Orbán, Putin - so his inclination is to like Russia. Plus Trump has had business deals with Russia and (presumably) wants more.

Either way - it doesn't seem to matter.

Trump is very pro-Russia - and whether or not he's compromised matters little (even should proof emerge that he's compromised, it's never going to affect him).

Hahahaha that is funny as fuck. They are a load of nutters.

Just putting it out there, but if I was in charge of a top secret government psy-ops procurement programme aimed at large scale social deception, I wouldn’t put ‘large scale social deception’ on the invoice.

You’d come up with one of those cool CIA names like ‘Operation Overwatch’ or something.

So I’m going out on a limb and saying this is a load of old bollocks as usual.
