President Trump

So basically the world is going to hell in a handcart because Americans thought a carton of milk was a few cents more expensive than it should have been. Excellent work everyone over there.
That's not fair. They did it for the cats and dogs too.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll pass, thanks.

Eggs! It’s all about eggs!!

Oh, and Putin.
And DEI.
And being a tough white man.

I think Trump is trying to beat Hitler’s record!

P.S. It was FAR from “everyone.”

To be fair he never fucking had it.
That is absolutely correct, and my choice of words wasn’t perfect, but what I was trying to convey is that since reassuming power he is acting broadly in a way that was tediously predictable, but the extent of his behaviour is still simultaneously shocking. He’s out of control and dangerous in a way that exceeds even my worst fears.

I think a combination of his defeat in 2020, the charges against him, the assassination attempt and then his sizeable (although it should be reiterated, not overwhelming) victory have all conspired to make this already highly damaged person think they are completely untouchable and can say and do what they want.

It’s an odd one, because no one has the right to be surprised that he’s being a ****, and yet I concede that the extent and speed of this descent into talking and acting like a despot who thinks they can simply do what they want has surprised even me.

It’s akin to a United fan expecting them to get beat, but then watching them lose 12-0. He’s not surprised by the defeat but still has a level of disbelief at the extent of it. Or possibly when someone who is always considered a bit of a **** by their local community ends up murdering his wife. That must present a weird conflation of shock and expectation at the same time.

I guess the way you square that circle is that whilst it’s shocking to witness it’s still predictable in a way that it wouldn’t have been if Harris had won and started acting like this. This man, and his flawed psyche were always going to act without grace, reason or control when given the keys to power once again, but the extent of his intoxication at that turn of events has exceeded even my worst fears.

It’s brought out the very worst in him. And that’s a truly terrible thing.

100% agree but what's more shocking is the seemingly lack of opposition from within the USA and even more so Europe.

Calling Zielinski a dictator, claiming he was responsible for the war and the outright lie that the USA had contributed more than anyone to the war effort was a step beyond for me.

Time the UK and Europe showed some balls and called the **** out for what he is.

I don’t think that day is far off mate. I think Starmer’s visit will most likely prove to be a watershed.

I sincerely hope he does, Starmer needs to go in there and call him out, it will do wonders for his reputation in Europe and even more so back in the UK.

This is a frightening situation that could define Europe over the next generation, if Trump/Putin succeed we are in serious trouble.

It’s been quite telling looking at the headlines in the right wing press in the last few days as I’ve been at my local store. Apart from a few on the far right, who have been gaslit by Russian bots, there appears to be a broad anti-Trump consensus building across the political spectrum. I think there’s a recognition that the threat Russia poses is existential and that takes precedence over more petty matters of political disagreement.

I usually drive past you and these posts but, having read this I find it staggering that you, and is this many like you, can’t actually take onboard peoples concerns and just treat is as a game.

It’s pure cowardice, bowing to something you don’t understand or refuse to relate to. Honestly, many have never seen anything like this. Your President has been so bad yet his followers have been worse.

However, like always, we should judge on the end result. After all, that’s what really matters.

I rarely get involved in these threads but - take the politics out of it - this guy, Dax, has a long term pattern of behaviour, even when discussing football, that points to some sort of personality disorder. That’s an view that was widespread before he ever started demonstrating his love for Trump.

Is it sny surprise that someone with what seems like an inability to empathise with others in a debate on any topic is attracted to Trump and the associated style of politics and rhetoric?

Of course not, people with those sort of problems tend to flock to him.
