Russian invasion of Ukraine

Unless they're playing 4-D chess. The Russians are probably playing the Americans and the Chinese will be the big winners.
I think China would welcome a reduction in the influence of Russia and the US, because that in turn would increase their influence, in both relative and real terms, but they hate uncertainty and instability which this current situation is inevitably throwing up, so while they may ultimately gain from it, they will not currently be happy about the chaos that is being created.

Not sure if summat been hit or just caught fire...Rostov Region.
But,if its burning and in Russia,i like it.

It was probably the secretary of defense saying it last night saying we ate going to see him sign it over in next few days. I do wonder why they cancelled a press conference the other day though in Ukraine after meeting Kellog.
It kind of depends if the deal includes lots and lots of military equipment.
Even then, the deal is a rip off - a larger cost to Ukraine than the Versailes Treaty was to Germany!

The US threatening BLACKMAIL/EXTORTION or we will turn off starlink. Trump should be threatening Russia.

The rare earth agreement between the United States and Ukraine might be signed today - Wall Street Journal. Its details are unknown at the moment.

The United States will suggest a resolution on Ukraine to the UN.
According to Reuters, it will contain grief about deaths in the "Russian-Ukrainian conflict" and state that the "principal purpose of the United Nations is to maintain international peace and security and to peacefully settle disputes."
It is unclear whether the resolution will condemn Russia and support Ukraine's territorial integrity

We had to get independent from ruzzian energy, from Chinese pharma and basic resources and on top of that we suddenly have to quickly check our dependencies on US supplies as trump's blackmail policy is even more obvious!
Goodness.

There comes a time when you have to stand up to a bully.

Can’t see them being too chuffed with Russia and the USA sharing the material wealth of Ukraine

Signing a long term deal under duress to avert a short term threat never ends well, unless Ukraine reneges/stalls on the deal several years down the line when the conflict is over and the situation stable.

The intervention of Kellogg seems to have shifted thinking though. How reliable that intervention is remains to be seen.
