We need to sit in a bit today and be difficult to play against, don’t push up and leave space in behind - that’s all Liverpool will be playing for - we can be naive at times. Liverpool will kill us if we over commit and less face it our ball retention is poor these days. Sit in and make them break us down.

The Bald Fraud is not going to change the habits of a lifetime I think. I noticed a headline, not read the article yet, in that bastion of free and fair speech much loved on here, the BBC, which seems to argue that Pep's brand of football is being overtaken by a new generation. Not sure we will have much joy today but I hope we put in a good performance which gives encouragement for the rest of the season.

The Boys in Blue never give in, they fight to the end. Come on City, come on City. Show 'em lads, show 'em all. Especially that lot from the wrong end of the East Lancs who like to think that they are superior. Yes superior clowns maybe.

Especially the know nowt, alleged media types. The ones who wouldn't know a dart from a football. Stupid, saddle goosed bunch of addle witted fools that they are.

Especially the Specsavers needing, whistle blowing numpties we like to call officials. Official fribble, grumbleltonians, who have no idea who we are....
we are: MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD. (STILL)

Just do your very best lads. :-)

Sorry I'm early but got a birthday lunch before the game.

They could be 10th in league on a five game losing streak and we still wouldn't beat them at Anfield.

Dont care what form we're in we need to return the favor at the Etihad, grow some f*****g balls win the 50/50s and show some intensity.

If Erlings out, a draw is a good result.

I hope he plays Ake at left back - he's our best chance of stopping Salah; he's done it well previously. This is no criticism of Gvardiol, who's proved himself brilliant on the ball. I'd keep Gvardiol in the team either at centre-half or anywhere in the midfield - I believe he can do all the jobs that John Stones did for us in his best times for City. He's great on the ball and could well move alongside Gonzalez, strengthening us in the middle.

As ever, we can't guess what the line up will be. Haaland? Grealish? KDB? Silva?

Probably Gundo!

Ederson

Gvardiol
Dias
Ake
Khushanov

Kovacic
Gonzalez

Sav
Marmoush/Foden
Doku

Haaland/Marmoush

If big Erl is fit Marmoush plays instead of Foden

If Erl is injured. Foden comes in and Marmoush moves into the Striker role.

No idea what team he'll pick today. It needs freshening up from midweek, so it's possible that the likes of KDB, Kovacic, Grealish, Lewis and Doku could make the starting XI. They had a difficult game themselves against Villa on Wednesday, and tend to not make many changes, so a bit of rotation could give us an advantage. Clutching at straws here, admittedly.

I'd like to see Doku or Grealish given a go and definitely KDB.

So happy birthday Eccles Blue :)

After the Madrid game, Pep said he was setting us up to stay in the tie as long as possible. This is of course a fine idea but he wanted to do that with Gundo, Bernardo and a high line. If he approaches today with the same idea, set up and personnel we'll be absolutely destroyed - the possession boys aren't keeping possession and our team can't press for shit. Acknowledging that the players aren't capable of how you want them to play and then repeatedly playing them just makes no sense.

Hopefully, Pep sets us up with pace and energy to attack quickly & effectively, while being conscientious of their threat. Khusanov has to play in the back to counter their pace - if he's RB that's fine but please don't have any strategy where he's asked to keep width in attack.

I still think that we should revert to a wingback system as he wanted to do with Mendy & Walker years ago. Gvardiol on the left, Savinho or Nunes (defensive frailties less dangerous & has set Haaland up repeatedly) on the right.

Ederson
Khusanov Dias Ake
Savinho/Nunes Nico Kovacic Gvardiol
Foden
Haaland Marmoush

If no Haaland, then do it as a front 3 with Foden, Marmoush, Doku/Grealish

We need to grab the initiative and really grab this game by the scruff of the neck.
Not 100% gung-ho, obviously, but how about backing our own attacking capabilities for once, instead of talk about containing their threat? With or without Erl, we do still have the players to cause anybody problems, as long as the gameplan allows it.

On the two occasions (I'm not including Ipswich, cos that was just, well, Ipswich) when we've started on the front foot, we've seen what has happened.

Not sure how many times the 'sitting in' and 'wait and see' approach has to fail before we try to play to whatever strengths we have left.

I fancy us, if we take it to them from the off and have Aké and Khus at LB/RB.

Based on what? Something you’ve read or the need to be pessimistic?
We all saw that he couldn't even warm up wed in the biggest game of the season, no need to be the usual bluemoon sarcastic, it's just my observation and opinion, 100% hope he plays and smashes the scouce cunts.
