Well if costs 30m yeah worth a gamble I'd buy both

I assume you meant "Rayan Cherki" rather than "Eaten Cherki." Below, I’ll provide a comparison of Rayan Cherki’s and Florian Wirtz’s stats based on their performances in recent seasons. Since I don’t have direct access to their full career stats up to February 21, 2025, I’ll base this on available data from the 2023/24 season and partial 2024/25 season insights, using general trends from reputable football stat sources like FBref, Sofascore, and WhoScored, while keeping it up-to-date with their trajectories as of now.

#### 2024/25 Season (Partial Data as of February 21, 2025)
- **Rayan Cherki**:
- Cherki’s role at Lyon has fluctuated, but he’s reportedly maintained a strong creative output. As of mid-season, he’s likely around 2-3 goals and 5-7 assists in Ligue 1, with his dribbling and passing stats remaining elite. His goal output remains a weak point, possibly due to Lyon’s inconsistent form and his reduced minutes at times.

- **Florian Wirtz**:
- Wirtz has continued his stellar form post-Leverkusen’s title win. By February 2025, he’s likely notched 8-10 goals and 10-12 assists in the Bundesliga, cementing his status as one of Europe’s top young players. His real-life stats (e.g., 9 goals, 11 assists in 22 matches across competitions by late 2024) align with this trajectory.

---

#### Key Differences
1. **Goal and Assist Output**:
- Wirtz significantly outpaces Cherki in direct contributions (goals + assists). His 2023/24 G/A tally (22 in Bundesliga) dwarfs Cherki’s (7 in Ligue 1), reflecting greater end-product consistency.
- Wirtz’s higher xG and xA suggest he’s more clinical and involved in dangerous areas.

2. **Dribbling and Creativity**:
- Cherki excels in dribbling (top 1% in Europe), averaging more successful take-ons than Wirtz. This highlights his flair and ability to beat defenders one-on-one.
- Wirtz, while skilled, prioritizes efficiency over raw dribbling volume, focusing on passing and positioning.

3. **Passing and Vision**:
- Both are elite progressive passers, but Wirtz edges out Cherki (99th vs. 97th percentile). Wirtz’s higher key passes and assist numbers reflect his superior playmaking in Leverkusen’s structured system.

4. **Defensive Contribution**:
- Wirtz contributes more defensively, fitting Leverkusen’s high-pressing style under Xabi Alonso. Cherki’s defensive stats are notably weaker, as he’s less involved off the ball.

5. **Team Context**:
- Wirtz benefits from playing in a dominant Leverkusen side, boosting his stats. Cherki’s numbers suffer from Lyon’s mid-table struggles in 2023/24, though his underlying metrics (xA, dribbles) show untapped potential.

---

#### Summary
- **Florian Wirtz** is the more complete and proven player as of February 21, 2025. His higher goal/assist output, better defensive work rate, and success in a top team make him a standout. He’s a “G/A magnet” thriving in a winning system.
- **Rayan Cherki** shines as a creative dynamo with exceptional dribbling and passing, but his lower goal output and minimal defensive effort lag behind Wirtz. He’s a high-upside talent who hasn’t yet hit the same heights, partly due to team context.

If you’d like me to dig deeper into specific metrics (e.g., Champions League stats, X posts, or web analysis), let me know!
Why are his minutes significantly less considering a similar number of appearances to Wirtz. Injuries or usage?
As a team we are more injury prone, and if the former then keep away. Wirtz is more experienced in a pressing system too.

Can I also place on record I really like Morgan Gibbs-White!
Like as in you just like him as a player or like as in you think/know we are interested in him?

Xavi Simmons has the technical ability but does he have the application, attitude and fortitude....always seemed like a bit of a bit part player who will ultimately never hit the heights and when that happens with players its always because of attitude.

Morgan Gibbs white has the physicality but does he have that creativity/flair....does he even have the ability to go levels beyond where he is.??? Im not sure he does and it feels like an average signing to me

Both options are ok but not great in my book - more like squad players if anything....certainly not players you build a CL or prem league challenge around

With a 9 year contract that release clause will be well over 100m can't see anyone bothering with that! He is there till he is 30+ rotting away
Apparently it was 100M. Like I say I don’t know how much truth is it in, I hope we would be all over that if it is true.

Gibbs white and Xavi Simmonds feel like Phillips and Nunes type signing to me - bang average players or with one of them (Simmonds) someone who aint going to ever apply himself at the level needed

I'm not sure, I'd be willing to give a Simmonds/Haarland partnership a chance.

Silvinho/Doko either side and I think we're set for years.

Simons is an extremely talented young player mate, Gibbs White I agree with though, we could get Valera for probably less or Baena depending on system structure. Could only mean HG quota signing.

City has a buyback option of £30m this Summer on Delap.

His actual current market price is probably £50m/£60m.

It make sense to trigger it regardless of whether we want to keep him or sell him on right away.

Wouldn't be surprised if Delap half fancies trying again here.

Well he passed his can he hack audition and if he fancies it and understands that’s he’s a back up to the best striker in the world and still wants it then without question bring him back

Marmoush?

Im not sure with any of that.

Doku I love as he brings something completely different...bt does he strike you are a player you build a CL winning team around? Not me...i think he will always be the level slightly below
Savinhio is too early to tell - great player but needs to start adding goals at some point....he has the potential to go all the way but weve seen it with so many players.

Simmonds feels like he has been around for ages and he has not cut it - why would he then cut it in the toughtest league in the World?

This is his transfer history since leaving the Barca Youth team: -Flitting back and forth between the German and French league and never establishing himself.....yes he is only 21 so of course that counts - but compare to young players who do establish themselves? He just seems like one of those players who is touted as the next wonder kid and like virtually all of them they then fall into obscurity for one reason or another...all hype and no substance.

Could be very wrong however - but he has 5 goals and 4 assists this season - hardly ripping up any trees really.

A no brainer but I am not sure these type of deals are good for our reputation with players.

Angelino was another, we made money but for me it did us no favours.

Angelino was brought back and was quickly found out.

To make the money we did on him twice was brilliant business.

Only works with those players who still feel wedded to the Club.

If Chelsea do want Delap, they can pay us for the privilege.
