Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Performance wise, we've probably had worse. The derby shitshow was arguably a worse display than today. It still annoys me. Or the games in Lisbon, Paris or Madrid. But that being said, we never looked likely to get anything today. Gutless.
Am not sure it's gutless. But it's definitely clueless nobody as any football intelligence to mix things up or adapt during the game and that includes Pep and his staff. CTID

You need to get in the dugout and show Pep how it is done. I won't hold my breath though.
I do apologise for criticism of pep. Do you think him and his staff are getting everything correct this season and adapting to different in game situations.

Perhaps the big man upfront would have made a difference. Hopefully he’ll be back against the spuds.

Is calling him clueless fair criticism? Tonight I thought playing Phil as the 9 and playing direct corners was ineffective. Calling a manager who has won 6 out of 7 Leagues clueless isn't fair criticism IMO.

Some of the comments on here are absolutely mind boggling:- "Liverpool are just better than us", "they were playing within themselves". What a fucking crock of shite. I wouldn't go to watch Liverpool if they sat me in their most expensive hospitality seats for free. They are praised to high heaven for literally booting the ball up the pitch for salah to chase every game. Just look at their last few games, they must be getting very close to breaking the bank of good look over the last 5 games.
City completely dominated the game 66% possession, 16 shots to 8, shots on target 5 to 4. Please show me where looking at those stats were Liv the better team and playing within themselves. I personally thought Liv were shite and have been for the past month. Just because a team beats their opponent doesn't always mean they were the better team(except if you listen to Sky & match of the day studio responses). I was expecting a defeat today myself, simply because of the amount of missing players and players not fit but playing. Our performance didn't deserve a defeat. Liv have been very lucky in the injury department this season which has ballooned them into looking like world beaters, they're not !
A lot on this forum are brainwashed by the media and need the media to form an opinion. I know what I watched today and have completely blocked myself from all the media, knowing the bullshit that would be spouted.
Just wondering has Arnold been able to unravel his legs yet, because Doku had him tied up in knots today and was my M.O.T.M.

We lost because our defending on those two occasions was worse than school boy defending , absolutely non- existent and something that would never have occurred in the past 10 seasons or so.

We deserved nothing from the game we hardly laid a glove on their keeper and our possession was pedestrian once again with no cutting edge or intensity.

They could have upped their game if required we were worse than meek in the second half.

In saying that it was not our worst performance of the year but 13-5-8 tells us we are not at the races and yes we have injuries but many of our crocks need to be moved on and some who have been relatively injury free this season like Silva need moving on as well , great servants forever legends of the club but they have to go just like Salah and VVD will have to in the future as well and perhaps sooner than some think despite their form and fitness this season.

We cannot deliver decent set pieces and ALL teams no longer fear us especially at home now , we are a shadow of the side that won 4 titles in a row and need a major overhaul both in defense and in midfield if we are to compete at the top level again and the CLUB knows it , the transfers in January were partly for the future and partly to assist in qualifying for a top 4 spot to keep our run going.

Personally and contrary to popular opinion I think missing out which is a distinct possibility won't do us as much harm as some believe.

Yeah because the only two options are either never criticising anything or saying that the greatest manager in history "has no football intelligence". No middle ground, only options.

It's about time some people took their heads out of there arse this team of ours has been magnificent and all things come to an end .saying this is a shite season fuck off we can win the fa Cup and qualify for European football for next season having had a season ticket since 75 for what I've seen over the years is this is still living the dream, onwards and upwards you beautiful team

yer but right now id rather have a bunch of prospect than seeing these old players past their time
The new players that have just come into the side look so refreshing, they are hungry, fit and healthy and it shows.

Yesterday was another disappointment but at the same time we have started to see what the new side will look like and in Marmoush, Gonzalez and particularly Khusanov the future looks bright.

Most typical City-Liverpool game ever.

City dominate from the start, Liverpool score against the run of play, on their first attempt, through a lucky, massive deflection (looked like an offside for the corner too).

City continue to dominate, Liverpool score, once again against the run of play. So fucking predictable
They never got out of second gear, they did not have to.

We dominated the ball, so fucking what, we were shocking as an attacking threat, not surprising with two of our forward players invisible, we played most of yesterday with 9 men, Foden and KDB shockingly poor.

A lot of what you say I can't disagree with tbh. However, we gift wrapped them 2 goals and scored none ourselves, so makes the stats irrelevant in reality. Doku was a real threat as well I have to say.

This is silly. Liverpool played as well as they could. They couldn't win at Everton and Villa for a reason and were panicking that they might finish this season like last season...

Fortunately for them, we had several players who were very poor. On current form, Foden and KDB are not good enough to start for Leicester. A lot of people are blinded by their names and can't see what they are doing on the pitch. Playing with them is like playing with a man down from the start. That Pep started KDB against both Real and Liverpool is a mistake, even though Bernardo and Gundo aren't their usual selves either. Still, for all his weaknesses, Gundo was much better vs. Newcastle than KDB vs. Liverpool. KDB isn't a midfielder these days, and offers too little in attack.

They did what they had to do, no more no less, there are many ways to win a game and that was a very comfortable win for them.
