Away fans / tourists in home sections

Problem with jacking in your season ticket is that the chances of away tickets, which is already reducing, is immediately ZERO... and away days is where the real fun of being a city fan is
100%. That’s why if they ever bring in a ballot or I start to miss out on a lot of aways because of the criteria that’s when the season card gets binned

It kills me what we have become. I mean, i know its a consequence of our success and i wouldnt swap a single second but match days have drained me.
First to go 100% is champs league. Boring as fuck and then the big games are full of tourists. The real madrid game confirmed what i already knew, out of the scheme next year.

Then big league games like yesterday have the same feel.
And its not just inside the ground.
Public transport, parking, access. Its like the club/council are doing everything they can to make it all feel shit.

Ive had a season ticket all the way through from 1985. But one thing i can promise you all, and i know this absolutely factually as heard it from the horses mouth; the bean counters dont care about us and care about a bum on a seat spending money.

Said this before, the men at the top are BRILLIANT at their jobs but none are blues, some arent even football fans , so they dont/wont understand where WE are coming from. Snd i realised this when i said to one of the men near the top when in his company, “pisses me off that you keep increasing SC prices when united have froze theirs for years”. His reply, “yes but they are shit”, and laughed.

So there you have it, whilst we experience success they dont give a fuck and we will pay for it.
Be interesting if we have a proper dip, which is possible, and when the tourists slope off, will the bean counters come creeping back round us?
Agree with everything you've so eloquently put.
I'm not sure they'll actually even care should the last paragraph come to pass - so long as there's enough people coming in to make a profit they won't care.

Agree with all of that, and i’m from a very similar background to yourself. Season ticket since ‘85 weirdly enough.
I’ve threatened to drop the Cup schemes, particularly the CL, but it’s the guaranteed final tickets that stop me from doing so.

I walk around trying to look happy for the sake of my son, but i'm just not enjoying "the match day experience" anymore
Sadly Kippax you're no longer in a minority as you can see from the comments in here.
Those of us who did the hard yards and kept us afloat are easy to discard now things are all rosy and the money is easy to find.

think if I has a season ticket it would be very difficult to give that up. To be honest I don't think I would.
Having a season tickets all the stress away from getting tickets.

Think they are two factors when it comes to tickets.

Season tickets = cost
Matchday card = £35, ticket = £70plus, hours online queuing, can't get seats together.

You’re right, they will be the best in the league. However most city fans won’t be using them or have access to it.

The entire expansion is being built for tourists
I keep hearing that but I just can't accept there are that many tourists wanting to watch full seasons of PL or CL football. The rags, dippers and Arsenal games and possibly CL quarter finals and semis, or earlier games against Bayern or Real Madrid, but certainly not for the rest of our games.
We've pissed off so many fans that we're offering four tickets for an FA Cup fifth round game to each ST holder. Where the fuck are the thousand of "loyal" fans that have been priced out?
My worry is that tourists won't fill the expansion and City fans have got out the habit of going. And the prices will be too high to attract new fans.

Interesting that the club have used CCTV re the incident in 115 to then remove fans later in the game yet we are still waiting to find out who lobbed a pint pot full of coins. Does anyone know if the CCTV has been upgraded in the third tier as the excuse at the time was that CCTV didn't cover all of that area.

Also if they can identify fans to be thrown out they can then identify fans who celebrated their goals, the row, seat and block. They can then start to work out where those tickets originated from and issue banning orders - @dannybcity can you suggest that this is what the ticket compliance manager and head of security should be doing as a matter of urgency. If they need any help I am happy to oblige. If they aren't prepared to review CCTV then what is the point of them being employed.

Funny you should say that. A mate of mine has a few friends in Munich from his time working and living there. Most are 1860 fans but there are a couple of Bayern fans too. What Bayern do is have a separate section at home games for tourists so they’re not encroaching in the main home areas and diluting the atmosphere.
I said a few weeks back that we should have a neutral section for the tourists for exactly the reasons you say Bayern have it.

I wonder how many tourists were at Madrid in the stand behind the new where they all wear white. Not many I bet because the club will make sure of it.

I will and that's exactly why I'm asking for seat numbers. Where we are able to have specific examples, we are able to ask what the outcome was.

I concur with some of the things you say but Liverpool at home and 90% of our fans have left before the final whistle. The stand / tier with the cheapest ticket prices emptied first. I can understand families leaving who’ve been drenched but not in South Stand L3??

It would have been rocking had we’d been winning 2 nil.
It would indeed, but there would still have been a large number leaving from 75 minutes onwards in all areas of the ground.

This will probably fall on deaf ears but feel how you want about tourists and away fans coming in the home end but do you not think battering a random tourist for celebrating their goal is a bit over the top? It stinks of misdirected anger to me. Who actually cares about football that much to throw punches en masse at some random Malaysian dude

I know mate. The club have a right to ban whoever they want when they want. What I was trying to say is that it seems clear that @Dodge wasn't made aware that the club would get involved
It's been club policy to immediately ban you if arrested or ejected for some time.

I got banned in 2013 for being ejected at old Trafford - at a game that I didn't even attend (bit of a mix up with supporters club and was luckily sorted within half an hour of me getting the ban letter.)

I know nothing about these but if they're genuinely selling only to City fans it looks like the club are clamping down on such. Of course it could mean touts are buying them and reselling them on leading to the scenes witnessed yesterday.

I have sent you an email with specific details near me in block 230 but with CCTV it becomes very easy, there just needs to be the will to actually do it. As I say, if the club really wants to stop these issues from happening again then they will reviewing the footage today and for as long as it takes.

After the Celtic debacle this was a quote from a spokesperson, note how they lay the blame at fans and not themselves.

A City spokesperson said: 'The issue of away fans in home areas is one that the club continues to address. We will take action against supporters that have been found to contravene the conditions of their ticket by giving it to an away supporter or selling it on through a third-party platform.'

Isn’t it all done digitally now so if someone does pass on a ticket the new ticket holder must have a supporter number so you can’t really blame the person passing it on. Even if they did know it was a Liverpool supporter all they’ll say to city is that they thought they followed city because they had a supporter number
