Away fans / tourists in home sections

I think it's all planned - we, the traditional fans, are the only thing in the way of them getting to the next stage in their business plan - PL matches played anywhere in the world and no promotion/relegation.
The tribalism is a also problem because it isn't a good marketing look when the two sets of fans are segregated so they don't fight. Get rid of the die hard fan and you get rid of the tribalism. Keep putting the ticket prices up until the season ticket holders fuck off, get rid of relegation and lo and behold we've got the American model that so many owners want.

How would we feel about designating an area specifically for tourists? If they were all on one level or all in one big block in the stand, and every other seat was a season ticket or regular match going blue with ticket pricing to match, would that be more acceptable to everyone - club still makes its tourist money, we have a chance of building atmosphere etc back in...

When we go abroad and do the reverse (ie become a tourist in a European city), you always know which part of the ground to go to, and which bits to avoid - the curvas in Italy for instance. Same could happen here - a block or blocks all with agency fans left to annoy each other.

They could all video each other rather than watch the game

This is worse than what happened in the ground for me yesterday.

Can see the direction the clubs going and it’s akin to them in Trafford. Forcing you to sell back to the club rather than being able to transfer is coming. Don’t get me wrong there’s an element of apathetic season ticket holders who buy to sell 70% of the games on, but by suspending those passing on tickets to other blues at a lower price than the club would is a disgrace.
Its a mess, my seat went unused yesterday as my flight was cancelled in the morning and there was no way of passing the ticket on. Couldnt sell back to the club either as it was a flexi gold season ticket. They dont know what they want.

I'd hold off on the last bit I may be wrong on that, and @Dodge has confirmed he isn't aware City are doing that. Its my hunch on the back of something I was told by a friend in a similar position.
I don't think they are as I know of someone on a match ban and their seat was free yesterday.

That could work for the Champs League games mate. It shouldn't be required for Prem matches. There's hysteria from some posters about the volume of tourists but the Club does need to do more to develop our local fanbase.

We used to call this area 'old trafford'

That’s a great idea.

Put the tourists at the front of the new NSL2, instead of GA+ hospitality City fans.

On 2nd thoughts, that will be full of tourists staying at the hotel as part of a hotel match day package.

I said a few weeks back that we should have a neutral section for the tourists for exactly the reasons you say Bayern have it.

I wonder how many tourists were at Madrid in the stand behind the new where they all wear white. Not many I bet because the club will make sure of it.

Good idea in principle but hard to implement when you've got City fans selling tickets to the highest bidder on socials and the club themselves doing the same for tickets that get returned.

Ha I'm honestly considering going to watch Crewe soon I'm not far from there these days, just a shame they play in red! Got mates who support them too so that helps. Ground right next to the train station and bus depot too.
The football aint great but you wont be sat wit fooking tourists who dont care.

It was murder. Something people forget about going there is unlike Manchester the scousers always joined forces against teams playing there, especially Manchester teams. The only time I really remember that happening here
was when Liverpool and Everton played a semi final at Maine Road.
Just like now the police also hated you and couldn't give a fuck if you were getting battered. Indeed they'd often say, "Shouldn't have fucking come then should you lad." As the lad who left early found out that didn't save you, in fact it was more dangerous as there was always loads of scallies hanging about and you were easily sussed out. A horrible horrible place to go.
The 1985 semi final at Goodison between United and the RS was arguably one of the most violent matches seen. Manchester and Liverpool were never nice places to go for either sets of fans. I was smashed in the face by a golf brolly at OT once by a load of Cockney Reds.

Cockney rags were and are the biggest scum.out there.

Things I witnessed yesterday…

Bloke coming out the club shop with a Luis Diaz away Liverpool shirt on, bags of city merchandise. He then stopped, took his Liverpool shirt off and put his city top on which he just purchased.

Another guy with a half and half scarf outside the main entrance with an arsenal shirt on!

Another guy with a half and half scarf with a united woolly hat on taking a picture of the Bell, Lee and Summerbee statue!

I too am getting cross and annoyed regarding the tickets and prices etc but the games keep selling out, there’s no reason for our owners to say… ‘games aren’t selling, we should reduce prices’ their model is working unfortunately. The only was to bring down prices is if citizen members stop buying tickets.
It won’t happen as long as we’re a top club with attractions such as haaland and pep etc as ‘new fans’ ‘tourist fans’ whatever you want to call them want to see City and sometimes whether they support us or not!

One of these types are going to get badly hurt one day soon

Same happens at Real Madrid & Barcelona.
And that’s the type of club we are now. Popular, winners (more often than not) and global. Of course people will want to come and see us.

Imagine 20 years ago someone said in 2025 we will be classed in the same regard as Barca and Real Madrid? You’d have sent them to Park House.

I know nothing about these but if they're genuinely selling only to City fans it looks like the club are clamping down on such. Of course it could mean touts are buying them and reselling them on leading to the scenes witnessed yesterday.

Good post mate. I reckon sellers on the Face Value pages etc do more to ensure that buyers are Blues than City do. I buy tickets for Supporters Club members and Blues are often generous in letting them go for below face value. I also bought a couple of pairs of tickets off top Blues on here recently for a young couple who had been scammed by touts and family friends whose Mum had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. If City closed down the Face Value ticket pages that could be the final straw for many Blues.
