Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

They didn't park the bus. They had shape and sat back at times as that nullifies us instantly. Having an early lead they didn't need to do anything else, but they still made it 2-0 and an offside away from a third. It is called being controlled from Liverpool and when they attacked, they attacked with purpose. We gain possession and then stop moving, allowing every man of theirs to get back, every week. So yeah, we are boring as fuck to watch and have been for a while. I still love and support us but we are dull.
No that's what utd do ! It's called parking the bus

Football has changed, but it does every season and nobody deals with change better than Pep. This year a plague of injuries has ruined any plans he made and so, much as it grieves me to say so, we just have to suck up this result and make the best job we can of this season. We have injury concerns at the back, a lack of pace in midfield and, yesterday no spearhead up front. The good point is that the new lads are all making a very positive contribution, we hope Erling will be back soon, Nico adds calm and control in deep midfield and hopefully injured players can have the time they need for adequate recovery. And then the rebuild can continue in earnest in the summer. Pep sees a bright future ahead ...

Sports bar, Candolim beach road. Dunno if it's still there but was once my favourite place for watching footy.
eDit; now called ''3 Crownz''
Hi buddy we were actually on the Rice Boat on the Chopra River anchored up for the night. Haven't a clue where. We are staying just off the top the Beach Road. Candolim. The sports bar is now a fine dining restaurant now called ,wait for it , "White Plate by Chef Jason", no bugger goes in. The main sports bar is now right across the road at Angarra. More screens than you can shake a stick at, all with different sports and games on. It gets a bit rowdy match days. After a few Kingfishers it just blurs into one.

I feel a bit sorry for Doku and Savinho. In a normal team when a winger has beaten his full back there is some space in which to place a pass to a team mate. Because of our painfully slow build up, when our wingers beat their full back they are faced with another 7 or 8 defenders who have had time to jog back to defend their goal, leaving them with no team mate in a space to receive the ball. I just don't know what they are supposed to do. Pass it backwards? Pass it into a crowded area where it will be intercepted? Or keep on dribbling until they lose the ball? Don't blame those two if their efforts come to nothing because it's not their fault.
Doku staying static for 3 seconds before dribbling whenever having the ball helps them settle down with defence too. Doku’s whole game was like a replay of the same section of a record. Savinho was much better in this regard.

Only because he has recognized, albeit he was late and it has forced his hand, that the game has transitioned from slow, possession-based play to a much faster, stronger, more athletic and dynamic counterattacking game, esp against a possession based team.

One thing has let us down not continuing what we have the last 7 years or so, the players we need to do it. We can't play possession football when we haven't got the players to do it.

When Pep first came they said he couldn't do it with his brand of football and even that long ago teams were playing aggressive high ball and run onto the ball tactics, Pep blew them away.

Get the players he needs and it continues unabated.

It cannot, because players who are bigger, stronger and faster will break the press and overcome it. Plus, on offense, they will overpower a faint defence.

Of course it can, the English game hasn't changed it's us that has changed. We get the team personnel back on track and we get the results back on track.

Palace pushed and rushed
The scousers did the same

The rags had snow on the ball in every match they played.

I agree with this. Those pundits claiming that Pep's tactics have finally being nullified or found out are nieve

Everyone always knew HOW we played, they just couldn't do anything about it.

The main thing that has changed isn't the opposition, it's our game that is now about 3 times slower than before, due to a mix of player age, player form drop off and new players not yet bedding in.

There are obvious risks that we never get that ability to speed it up back, but if we do then we will be back again for sure.

Yesterday Liverpool reminded me of Southampton 11 behind the ball but with a world class attacker
But the media proclaim it as a master class
I seen a lot to be pleased with and the summer window will put us in a better place
Liverpool will find this out next season as they will need to replace
The last ten years have been brilliant let's look forward to the next ten ctid

I’d say, looking at the table and how competitive it is from 3 to 10, things have changed.

We won the last 9 league games of last season and were unbeaten in the CL and the PL till November. The idea that a sudden transformation has happened that has left Pep behind is overblown.

We have had a lot of problems this season: Rodri out (imagine Liverpool without VVD or Salah), multiple injury crises at the back plus Walker being shit and leaving, aging players in midfield, Foden being a shadow of his normal self, bedding in new players, etc.
