Trump is a nightmare of a person and of course, he shouldn't be trusted or treated as the leader of the free world. I wouldn't trust him to clean a bathroom. But it still bears mentioning that the NATO spending expectations were set in 2014 under Obama and have been ignored, and Trump has been beating the drum on this issue since 2016. European leaders need to look in the mirror.

As I said, no problem about military spending but trump is acting like an old style robber baron demanding mineral rights and sucking up to Putin. Unfortunately, he can no longer be considered the leader of the free world. With him it’s fuck everyone else including the best interests of most of the USA.

I’ve acknowledged that Ukraine will have to give up territory and cannot join NATO for the foreseeable. Just that it needs protecting from further aggression from Russia. And for that to mean something this time.
