Channel hopping on Saturday night (just gone) and stumbled across an episode of Sharpe on ITV4 HD, which is also showing on U & Drama HD.
Sharpe is a British period drama based on the series of novels by Bernard Cornwell (The Last Kingdom) and follows the adventures of Richard Sharpe of the 95th Rifles, a fictional working class British soldier serving in the Napoleonic War period. The self encapsulated episodes follows him as he fights both Napoleon's forces and the strong prejudice of the British aristocracy.
Featuring a top tier of British actors including Sean Bean in his finest Yorkshire accent as Richard Sharpe and Brian Cox, Daniel Craig, Pete Postlethwaite, Paul Bettany, Toby Maguire, Mark Strong & Philip Glenister to name a few.
A fantastic tale of a Sgt rising through the ranks whilst being a gritty and heart warming series, perfect for a Saturday night's viewing, surprisingly sweary for TV and also with some pretty leading ladies and their heaving bosoms on full display. (Liz Hurley)
Ordered the Blue-Ray box series on just one viewing and will work my way across the Seven series over the coming weeks.
