Away fans / tourists in home sections

Is this a problem that's steadily increasing or is it simply being magnified now that we're losing more home games?

After all, I've been in the home end at Anfield on three occasions and we've never even scored a fucking goal

I used to live in Whaley Bridge and I remember the Etihad derby in 95/06 and seeing a well known rag from Disley about to leave the ground with City leading 2-1 and seconds remaining

Cue Robbie Fowler scoring and me grabbing the rag in mid celebration whilst pretending that I didn't know who he was.

Totally out of order but I'd borrowed the trick from a Sheffield Wednesday fan who'd done exactly the same to me on the Hillsborough Kop when we lost 2-0 on New Year's Day 1990.

Funnily enough that game had been switched to an All Ticket Noon Kick Off at the last minute as the South Yorkshire Police weren't keen on City fans apeing the actions of a certain club from Merseyside the previous April

True story and resulting in dozens of City fans in the Peak District preferring to take their chance with a cash turnstile for the home end rather than traipsing all the way to Manchester on New Year's Eve to buy a ticket

We really were the victims that day, but I've probably said enough

Oh and Wednesday got relegated so who's laughing now you South Yorkshire twat?

Which rows were those? I assume you've reported them to the club or the City Matters reps on here?

We need to address this sensibly without people making shit up.
Did you not see the fucking crowd at the Madrid game? And every time we play the dippers there is a large group towards the back of CBL3, it’s been reported on here numerous times, you’re not telling me they are ST seats?

The DSA rep on City Matters has been talking to his fellow disabled supporter reps at other clubs and it's apparently a problem at those clubs as well, including Brentford.

Sorry - I thought we were talking about PL games like Sunday's where the club has tried to restrict sales. CL games are completely different and I couldn't give a toss about the CL.
I was taking about both, but for the PL games every time we play the dippers, there is a large group sat together towards the back of CBL3. They cannot all be getting those tickets from ST holders.

It's the association of Asian fans with 'tourism' I object to. The trend of local Asians coming to City is a positive but it feels like they are being identified by some as 'tourists'. Campaigns about tourists in the home ends are highly problematic.

I support campaigns on pricing, ticket distribution and the work done on banners and singing.
I think the lines are getting blurred in this thread about tourists and away fans. After the game I walk from the east stand to the family stand to meet up with my son and grandchildren and at the bottom of every isle there are tourists, Asian, middle eastern and Europeans and others, taking photographs to record their day and all of them happy as Larry, which from my point of view I like to see them happy, their memory of visiting the Etihad and watching City will remain till they can afford to come again. I welcome that. But, having away fans with home supporters is a no from me. When the Feyenoord game finished, after they had snatched an unlikely draw, there suddenly came to life about 25 of their supporters jumping up around me, as happy as Larry, a different happy to the aforementioned tourists and if a lot of City fans had not shot off in disbelief there could have been trouble. After that I made the decision to not go to champions league games next season, if we qualify, because I do not think it is right that I could be put in possible danger by the club selling tickets to away fans in a home section.

Where I was sat the stewards were constantly informed, we had people wandering around in rag hats, Arsenal shirts and whole rows of people all cheering lustily when the scouse scored, yes there was bother because the tourists were telling everyone around them to fuck off.

You inform the stewards they have a thankless job of trying to sort it out in many cases it's the city support that ends up helping. So yes many people inform who they can, the point is that the people who are higher up don't seem to give a fuck.

The only police I saw doing anything were the ones helping rip the "Stop ripping us off" banner down, you know the important stuff?

Any updates on the minutes from the last City Matters meeting with the club? Or will we have to wait another 3 months before it is posted on the City website?

Yes think we need to be looking at "ourselves" a little bit more and stop slagging the club off ALL the time.

Or maybe they should sell us to scruffy twat see how the fuk we would cry then!
Oh ffs. They’ve put money in and bought top players so we can’t complain that they’re driving away what’s left of our local fan base!

If I was a steward I wouldn't intervene. I wouldn't get paid enough by the club to break up a fight, or to sort a dispute out amongst rival fans. Stewards aren't there to remove away fans from home ends because the club directly or indirectly sells home tickets to them. The blame rests solely with the people running the club. They know what they are doing. And they know the risks they are taking in the quest to drive match day revenue.

Khaldoon should do something about it. If he's such a big states man, and up in Government in Abu Dhabi, why the fuck isn't he's telling Soriano to stop this? Because he's complicit in it as well. He knows what's going on. And he's ignoring it.

It's a tough one, I have no issues with Tourists, they are over here taking in a match. I've just come back from a week in Mumbai and speaking to people out there, they would love to come and watch a Prem game. Some of them just want to take it all in and come and watch a player (ie Haaland etc)

Away fans in our end is a difficult one. At the recent Derby, the seats next to us were sold on Ticket exchange the girl (city fan) bought both, here boyfriend was a RAG. We clocked he was a RAG and just told him to stay quiet and be careful. They were both decent people. They left as soon as their second one went in to avoid any trouble from maybe others that had clocked him.

In an ideal world, I'd love all the terrace violence etc to be gone but it won't change. I watch alot of cricket and love the banter in the crowd and how fans can mix.

Khaldoon only knows what he's told by the people who report to him I doubt very much they are telling him how they are selling tickets he will just see the bottom line, the attendance figure and that is probably a percentage

Back of CBL3 was terrible for it last season. I wouldn't say full rows, but definitely groups of people. They could be full rows, but split up into different groups? Some of those games included the 5 game policy (which only seems to be enforced to City members for the chance of purchasing a ticket.... invariably to be sat by yourself). Groups speaking numerous languages and clearly won't have all met the specified criteria. They were only there for the one fixture. I've moved now and I can't imagine it has got any better.

Are there City fans/touts selling tickets on? Of course there is. I can't understand how people can be naive to the club selling either directly/indirectly in bigger batches though. That's far more of a safety concern than a blue selling on to somebody else for an isolated seat. Far less likely to be impartial or conceal being an away fan when in a group.

Ironic that they're targeting face value pages when those by the trams seem to be given free rein right in front of their noses.

Reminds me of the Jim Jefferies joke about the security guard, " not enough money to be a fucking hero."
