Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

It's the same nonsense you see in every other sport.

Way too much deference is given to the original ref decision.

It's absolutely ridiculous given how many screw-ups refs make in real time.

Here's how it should work: once a VAR check is initiated, the original call on the pitch should be COMPLETELY disregarded, and VAR team should use their 69 different camera angles to determine what the most likely correct call is, and go with that.

It shouldn't be rocket surgery but of course the powers that be have to overcomplicate everything.
‘Clear and obvious error’. What an utter nonsense of a rule
Who decided whether its clear n obvious? Just creates another layer of incompetence

Just seen the player ratings in MailOnline…

Ederson 7; Nunes 6, Khusanov 6.5, Dias 7, Gvardiol 6.5; Kovacic 7 (Gundogan 90+4), Gonzalez 6.5 (Silva 74, 6); Savinho 7, Marmoush 6 (Foden 74, 6), Doku 8.5 (Grealish 90+3); Haaland 7.5.

(My bold)

What game was that journo watching?! Hilarious. Khusanov was at least an 8, Nunes not far behind, Sav was about a 5 at most. It’s like they just make them up.

His output going forward and defensively was terrible
I don't think he was terrible going forward, just not as good as he has been. He was disappointing defensively, especially when he almost cost us a goal. I think Pep will be having a word though.

Most of that second half was a tough watch but I doubt there’s a city fan that exists who knew it was gonna be that way after missing all those chances in the first half

As for the disallowed goal.. absolutely scandalous. Thank fuck it wasn’t 0-0 at the time and thank fuck they didn’t equalise with that header. The shit would have really hit the fan

On here maybe, probably wouldn’t get a mention in the media…..cheating blue cunts deserve nothing

Thanks Poch for picking that starting eleven.

Was not confident 2nd half that we were going to hold out.

How the 2nd was ruled out is incredible, the Spurs player took the lace out of it.
It was either a goal or a penalty in the real world, in cartel world it was a free kick to Spurs hard to believe.

Three straight shutouts of Spurs at their ridiculous NFL stadium when you include the F.A. Cup match last season.
After all the shit thier supporters talked about us never scoring there.

Fucking love it!
Get in BOYS!

Hopefully this starts a nice run in to the end of the season!
Sorry to mention the league cup loss 4 months ago :-(

Same as Evertons overturned penalty. Clear pull by De Light, refs sees it and gives penalty. Var gets involved despite it not being anywhere close to clear and obvious error and shows the wrong clip to the ref re Maguire not De Light.
Its not Var, its the useless and potentially corrupt in some cases, officials on it

If out a penalty to city
Yup, we got absolutely shafted and as usual the club can’t criticise the ref as whoever does will get banned.

The referees in the PL are a disgrace and it needs calling out and addressing.

Yep. Same thing as the "indisputable video evidence" nonsense in NFL, which has led to a huge number of controversial (read: wrong) replay decisions over here.

I don't blame refs for missing things sometimes in a fast-paced game. I DO blame a video review system that protects these wrong decisions.

Great result.
Good performance first half. Not as assured second half but did enough.

I feel Khusanov has settled the best out of the 3 new signings, Nico and Marmoush look like they're struggling with the pace of the prem at present. Expected though being thrown straight in to these big games

Yep, Khusanov is going to be a great player, Nico and Marmoush still need more time to adjust to the pace and speed of 2 games in a week,

I said last week after the loss against Liverpool, We have a very good young base to work with next season, now If we can get some full-backs and maybe more power in midfield then we will be very hard to beat,
