Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

But in the first half in particular, we were much quicker than the super slow sideways passing of this season. It felt and looked much quicker any rate. Thought Gonzales looks a good player and thinking ahead, looking forward to seeing Rodri behind him.
No idea why in the second half, we were so, I can’t even say lethargic because in the main young fit men out there, the oldest being Kovacic at 30, but we allowed Spurs to come at us and then we began to get overrun by them at one point and but for a bit of luck they didn’t get an equaliser. This after we should have been 0-3 up at half time. Overall though, pleased with the win, everyone knows it should have been 0-2 to us, why the ref chose to disallow the goal only he knows and it’s a good job it didn’t affect the outcome. Still, I hate VAR because it’s ruined the game.
Old arses don’t have legs but the young babies don’t have heart. That’s why they gass so quickly. They only run when chasing glory but don’t take it personally when the team need help in defence.

Accidental handball by a defender isn't a penalty.
Acccidental handball by a striker becomes handball when he puts the ball in the net.
Accidental is no longer relevant, I accept that the threshold is different for attackers & defenders!

Haaland and Marmoush together allows us to be more direct.

Our press died after about 60 mins though and the introduction of Bernardo wrestled back some control.

We should have been out of sight at half time though.

Doku was excellent. This is what we've been wanting, a killer final ball and better final decision making and doing it against decent opposition. If he continues to develop like this he will be immense. Everything else is there.

Savhino has never been a good finisher since he has been here. He really needs to work on that. otherwise he is very good and I like his workrate.

AK45....wow what a baller. He is going to be class.

Everyone else played better than they have this season, nunes did well at RB.
AK 45. I like that! Didn't they use to call that the Widowmaker? Could be a good nickname lol

Edit. Just remembered that it was the AK 47. Note to self - don't post whilst drinking!

3 points massively welcome, of course - would be nice to sort out what goes on at half-time, though? Some continuity would be good.

We were excellent 1st half..we dominated them and could easily have scored 4..
Yet you choose only to mention the 2nd half where spuds improved..
End of the day ..we won against a team we often struggle against..
Enjoy the result
We've often struggled bc they have played us with far better teams. Thank the lord Son didn't play 90 minutes with the blunders we make at the back. This Spurs side was utter shite and we were a bit better. As Pep said tonight we should have closed it by half time and they were better the second half.

Other half thought he was from Kiev - just came up with 'Ukraine Bolt' . :-)

Great result, we should have been out of sight at half time, but that 1st half was very pleasing on the eye. Shame Savinho did n't take that chance as a second goal was the least we deserved after that 1st 45 mins. Second half was a different story where we had to show a bit of grit and defend stubbornly.

First half really exciting for the future, second half a bit worrying. There's a team there in that squad, though, and one or two or more in and we are challenging again. If Nico can do a full 90 and know when to put his foot on the ball to let the rest of the team get their breath back we'll be laughing. Trust Pep entirely to get it sorted. Looks like the pace on the wings again now teams seem to be attacking and swamping the middle.

VAR is at its very, very worst in situations like that at the end. Everyone made a mess of it. Don't get the logic of it: send the ref to the screen.
