it will start either this evening or tomorrow evening,
depending on the moon.

i have to say, generally, walking around today,
there seems to be an impending look of doom on a lot of faces here in maroc.

during daylight hours they cannot let anything enter their system.
that must be difficult, especially if you normally smoke fags.
and daytime the cafes are usually full of people drinking tea or coffee.

once the sun sets in the evening they will eat breakfast.
maybe have something before bed.
then get up before dawn to fill up (usually with moist food) for the day.

the only place alcohol is allowed to be served is in tourist restaurants/clubs at stupid prices.
all the offies and bars have already closed.
i know muslims who drink alcohol,
they say they will suffer for the first 3 or 4 days then it will be okay.
and apparently their intake of hash vastly increases.

i doubt very much i could manage to do it.

No but I don't drink alcohol during the lent period, unless my birthday (which incidentally is today) happens to fall sometime during it. If it does, then I have a cheat day as I do longer than 40 days anyway,

I used to live there. It did my head in that they used to cordon off the haram stuff in the supermarket for everyone, as if it would be too tempting for the Muslims. Malaysia was far more accommodating, but if they weren't, the Chinese and Indians would kick off.

In a winter Ramadan, it's not unknown for wealthier muslims to venture north.
An extreme would be to the far north of Norway and have 24 darkness/twilight.

In reality, most Muslims will put on weight during Ramadan, the sun goes down and the food party starts. Remember seeing the families on Turkish beaches waiting for the sun to go down, BBQs lit, big tupperware boxes at the ready, cool boxes full of drinks. The town cannon sounds for official sundown and the feasting begins.

Religious people do some very wierd things.
But the piont of this....
I have no idea.
I know the muslim lads I talk to in gambia have told me about it.
Said it was really hard to do.
The other lads who arent as religious says they're plastic Muslims so they carry on as normal anddrink every day

I was in Morocco a couple of years ago during Ramadan
We were told that, in our hotel at certain times, food and drink wouldn't be available
This was transmitted just for show as none of the bars ever closed
