Russian invasion of Ukraine

So, whilst its tempting to imagine Trump's followers only love Putin because Trump seems to, the truth is likely far more complex and suggests that MAGA will not be dying away when the Donald has finished his carnage..

Fully agree.

And more widely, Trump is IMO a (particularly pustulent) symptom of what is wrong, not a cause.

America is a mafia state, demanding supplicants kiss the ring of the Don:

Gaslighting cunts.

By the way, maybe Starmer realises what he is, but he’s got to keep his powder dry while Europe tries to prepare for the inevitable.

This **** is a Russian asset.

How can anyone not now see this?

I don't really understand what the US wants at this point. European countries are admitting they need US support but that annoys the president as it's not a show of strength. I'm not convinced Starmer or Macron have any answers either. Sounds like he wants a complete withdrawal from NATO but won't say it publicly.

You just have to look at what he's doing to see that, he's not even trying to hide it now. Stopping cyber security monitoring ffs might as well just send Putin his password (its Trump1234 btw) and have done with it.

I think you're right about Starmer, but I think it's a bit more than keeping his powder dry, I think he and the rest of Europes governments are shit scared at the implications of this and haven't a clue how to react to Shitgibbons theatrics.

If WE know Article 5 is dead in the water, then it's a safe bet the intelligence services are pretty sure too, and that this information is nurdling away in Starmers ear. Problem is, knowing it and being able to do something about it in the short term are 2 very different things.

What we are doing, ie increasing defence spending, is the right thing to do, but we're not doing it quickly enough for the simple reason we can't afford it. The moment it starts to impact the man in the street is the moment the UK far right, led by the rubber faced walking fetish, start to agitate. It's a historically proven path. This is obviously the same scenario across Europe. It's particularly worrying when you read about the far right in fucking Germany gaining ground.

So Starmer has to be careful, and part of that is trying to stop Shitgibbon going all in, or more accurately, all out, with regards to Ukraine support in particular, and NATO in general.

I may be going all conspiracy theory here, but I do wonder if

I'd say you're bang on the money.

It should now be obvious to everyone with half a brain cell that the nefarious elements of this US administration are indirectly siding with Putin and ramping up rhetoric until they can brazenly shout as much from the rooftops.

It should be yet every morning we wake up to one or two posters new to the thread rambling in the other direction at length.

Could the EU and other Allies overcome Russia and maintain peace without the States.

My gut feeling is yes

Totally agree.

America as a back stop isn’t about boots on the ground, it’s about MAD.

Between ourselves and France we have enough to ensure MAD as well.

If Trump wants to pull out then let him fucking go.

I see Trump is having a go at Zelensky - no surprise there.
All part of the premeditated act begun on Friday to take Zelensky down.
