I think it depends totally on the sensitivities of the target. Some people are offended by being called a **** some people it will not even register. Likewise, in private life, with racist, religious, ageist language, etc. Some people are offended, others not bothered. However, in public life, people will often be sacked, cancelled etc for not towing the line and offending someone/anyone. For instance, on here, privately, we can all call Starmer/Farage/Trump/etc 'Cunts' BUT if you appeared on Television representing your company and called Starmer/Farage/Trump a **** then you would be sacked.

Should whatever goes on behind closed doors between two consenting adults be legal?
There was a case in Germany, I think, where a masochist got an accomplice to hammer a nail through the bell end of his erect penis. Is that acceptable?

With all the gun crime, stabbings, drug crimes in London is it coincidence that the majority of it, like it or not, seems to involve either as perpetrators or victims, people of colour.

Every time I hear of a stabbing or a shooting in London this seems to be the case, often it is a person of colour on another person of colour. What I really would like to know is: is this being addressed as a specific issue or is the whole of the type crime being lumped together and being treated as a single issue. In this day and age of statistics and trends I never see any such breakdown or discussion of these figures. It's happening too frequently for it to be continually swept under the carpet.

Also the fact that Police do many, some say too many stop and search checks and in the majority it is of people of colour who are stopped and searched can surely be be of no surprise. Also is it not good news that so many searches are being carried out? It is unfortunate that there are so many people of colour being stopped and searched but.... if the description the police officer receives is on an individual or individuals is IC3 then I'm afraid the police are not going to stop and check caucasians are they? Do we really want them to?

There that is something I don't think we are allowed to say even though many (though not all) may think it.

Agreed 100% but to do that you MUST acknowledge theres a problem.... don't you?

As a country we are just not doing that... just sweeping it under the carpet.

Prove the problem exists statistically

Engage with the communities

Encourage consultation and communication to find solutions

Educate those communities about why there is such a high prevalence of Stop and Search checks.

Encourage cooperation when stopped and search, if there is nothing to hide them what's the problem?

There are a huge amount of things that could and should be being done

There are other more sensitive issues that I think should be addressed but they are unfortunately too politically sensitive to be brought into this discussion.

So invest in youth clubs and make the kids feel valued? I could go along with that, not separate communities and talk to each individually.

We probably don’t have enough police to make the number of stop and search checks that you would want, so I’d be all for more police too, but not ones that only search people because of skin colour.

I think we are broadly in agreement except as we are today then I am afraid skin colour is a reason to stop and search.

If a police officer on the beat is told there was a black man walking down the street brandishing a knife then I'm afraid the liklihood is that it is black men who will and should be stopped. The same argument stands if it is a white skinned man. Unfortunately the majority of these incidents and crimes involve black men,

The stop and search should be on justifiable grounds... everytime.
 
You can say and do whatever you wish to. But you have to be mindful you should be aware in law there can be consequences. Freedom of speech and expression.

If you say something that someone is offended or alarmed by that is still no guarantee there will be action against you BUT if reported there will be an investigation and if your speech meets a certain threshold you will be taken to court and even then that is no guarantee that you will be found guilty of anything.

You can express your desire for a Porsche but if you choose to so by stealing one there will be consequences in law. If its your Porsche and you catch a thief in the act you can drag them out of the car and be a bit rough with them - likely no consequences. If you were to say beat them to a pulp you are expressing a desire to beat someone up not stopping a theft.

What makes me laugh is that most "free speech" advocates love to dish it out but respond to them with "hurty words" and they block people or complain that the world is against them and closing them down.

Agreed. Skin colour alone is not justifiable grounds to me though.

I'd agree - I mean if bombs went off and the reports were that it was brown men with suicide vests doing it I would not expect the cops to be searching blond haired blue eyed Finnish tourists.

Unfortunately there is a massively race based bias in stop and search - young black men are proportionately massively more likely to be stopped and searched than white men despite the withe men who are stopped are pro-rata more likely to have drugs on their person. Time and time again surveys show this

Agreed.... I think but....

In the areas where the stop and searches are carried out the crimes are, in the main being carried out by black/brown men so police will naturally be looking for suspects that fit the description, to suggest they should stop and search pale skinned people is not realistic. If the people who are stopped have nothing to hide then what is the problem?
