He's very good. We have a good crop of young keepers, Brits and Hudson very decent too2-1 FT. Huge win! MOTM has to be Whatmuff, some incredible saves from him

I like ANY team who beat anything to do with Real Mardarses!! With our youngsters - well done the lads.We play AZ away in the next round, they beat Real Madrid 2 - 0
Come on, Alkmaar. Oh, i missed the earlier post. Nice to see Los Blancos draw a blank.Fantastic result. Not like us to win a game having been second best for large periods. Usually we dominate but concede from one of the two shots we face. Real Madrid or AZ Alkmaar next.
Can someone explain is it just bad luck that we keep getting drawn away that’s 3 on the bounce that I know of or is it seeded somehow ..
Weird how citys u18 dominate in England, but usually outplayed by other countrys teams in play offs ,is English youth teams poor or whats the issue ? Dont watch it every year ,but i dont think citys youth team has made it very far in this competiton?
have we ever been drawn at home in a knockout? Can someone explain is it just bad luck that we keep getting drawn away that’s 3 on the bounce that I know of or is it seeded somehow ..
I haven’t a clue just noticed we have been drawn away now 3 games, another poster has confirmed it’s just purely luck ..have we ever been drawn at home in a knockout?
I can only recall one season where we got onehave we ever been drawn at home in a knockout?
City gets lot of criticism for signing players from other academies, this picture suggests otherwise
That recent rule re: not being able to sign "foreign" players before the age of 18 is something that we really are geared up for, compared to a lot of the other PL teams.City gets lot of criticism for signing players from other academies, this picture suggests otherwise
You will find that in more recent years a trend is emerging of signing players from other uk academies, this is evident in this years u18 group compared to last seasons, with all the following bought in - Brits (Wimbledon), Parker(United), Noble (Derby), Miles (Southampton), Fapetu (Arsenal), Mukasa (West Ham), Gorman (Leeds), Fletcher (Reading), McAidoo (Chelsea), Dundar McDonald (Reading) possibly more. That recent rule re: not being able to sign "foreign" players before the age of 18 is something that we really are geared up for, compared to a lot of the other PL teams.
Our set up is the perfect education for local youngsters.
And plenty have left so we had to fill some gaps. With the change in the rules it was always going to be this way and won't be any different for other academies.
Indicates a potential shift in recruitment policy
Very few leave by choice, why would you? the retained vs bought in number depends on the clubs judgement. The group that won the youth cup last year and now makes up a good chunk of the EDS was the 2022 scholar intake and were always seen as a strong group so much so the whole group were given St. Bedes for the first time ever. The current u18 group clearly not so hence all the external signings. Notably though Mfuni was a pre academy kid and whilst it’s not good to single out anyone player out of respect to the others and the fact development/opportunity is so unpredictable, he’s arguably got the best chance of making the transition to first team. And plenty have left so we had to fill some gaps.
