PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

@slbsn Who makes the announcement?

Surely it’s the Premier League who does it, and it will be on their terms.

The best time of the week to ‘bury bad news’, at least in the pre social media age, was Friday evening. Although this isn’t something you can really bury.
No, both sides come to an agreement when to release (at the same time) and as we saw with APT1 the PL have no say in how and what we release (besides any confidentiality issues).

He lived in Manchester for 30 years and watched City one week and United the next. I do think he’s a bit more red than a blue.
Definitely
Admitted recently that he subscribed to Red Issue maybe he did subscribe to KoK but he's never though to mention it

Why? These releases often happen on Fridays. Sometimes the info goes to both parties on a Friday in advance of a comms release on the following Monday. Lots of people are impacted by possible news like this. It includes all our investors and sponsors especially those who are in the stock market.
This release will be embargoed for a fact check for a number of days I'd say with a minuscule circulation list. Then not released when the whole football world is preparing for a Game Week and sat in press conferences around the country. But if you mean it could be released to the parties on a Friday then maybe - I think the inference was a public announcement on a Friday - thats what I think is unlikely.

Tolmie has probably heard the same chat as per "high profile people in the game" as per the Price of Football podcast this week following their live gig at Liverpool Uni, with Matt Slater of the Athletic as a special guest. Maybe he has more meat than that alone.

"Kevin Day: Several high profile people in the game at Liverpool University last night were indicating they thought there might be an outcome on the City case as early as this Friday which you said you weren't that sure about

Maguire: Yes, Im in quite a few whatsapp groups and i'm always a little circumspect to as when information is going to come out... when the 115/130 concluded in in mid December, there was a consensus of opinion there was a fair chance we would be getting the results in the spring (some waffle about spring) and on the back of that when is this judgement going to come out?

I've actually recorded with a broadcaster today an interview on the basis of hearing things out and again without going into detail there have been quite a few media outlets trying to pre-book...along the lines if it does happen Kieran how many hours can you give us on the story

So I think there is a growing suspicion we are moving towards an announcement....entering into the final stages."

No not on their terms. Panel will dictate I'd think. Then published on PL website and by City

There is no possibility of burying anything.

I’m not sure of the logic in that.

Rumour of guilt - masses click on it because they want us to be guilty.

Rumour of innocence - masses still click on it because they want us to be guilty.
The vast majority want us to be found guilty , that's fact.

If we are cleared and this situation is over the void in the UK sporting press is going to be enormous, a lot of people have made a living and a very good one out of these charges, including our very own Stephan

Yes but that was City taking the PL to court. This arbitration was brought by the PL. Surely it’s them who own it.

He is a self appointed expert on football finance that never demonstrates any deep understanding of his subject. He is lightweight.
Has he ever written a serious piece on how football finance could be improved?
He lectures in football finance at Liverpool University

Agree with that. But sometimes that pesky fact checking can ruin your weekend!
