President Trump

Understand all if that, but America is not Trump and Trump is not America.

Yes, he is the President, but he is not America, and there is no defence of his current ATTEMPT to create an autocratic shambles.

One can only hope he is defeated by Congress and the Courts, and at the ballot box in 2 yrs time.

I've been to the states multiple times and know a lot of fantastic American people / colleagues. However the outside perception of you right now, is that somehow the 50% who didn't vote for him need to stand up and be counted. Rightly or wrongly to me it feels like a lot of you have simply rolled over.

I hate Trump too. However, I don't hate the people who voted for him.

I agree...he and his ilk are a cancer.

I just don't think that actually listening and debating with the "floating" voter is something that should be ignored.
If you can't bring yourself to do that then fine. That's your perogative.

A lot of his supporters are genuinely nasty vile people. They don't deserve any sympathy and it's a sad state of affairs.

The one thing I would add is that from afar it seems that the general population do not understand where this is heading.
The founding fathers will be turning in their graves.
It is already probably too late.

Anyway in Nottingham now, time for a drink.

America is America and has a history, culture and political prism that is separate and distinct from anywhere else in the world.

And, if you think America should look to the UK examples you posted, I’d suggest you should look at yourselves, because progressive for progressive’s stake is idiocy.
I'm surprised you're engaging. I think he's emulating Swiss Cheese with his nonsense and either not understanding posts or pretending not to.

Not wanting to get this thread talking about who's killing whom (there's a thread for that) but if Traitor Trump is stopping Ukrainian use of US commercial satellites, can't the EU divert a weather satellite or two to see what's going on?

It's about Internet connectivity. Pretty much gone if Starlink no longer provides service.

That they're stopping the authorities from countering Russian cyber attacks tells you all you need to know.
It’s not COUNTERING (as in stopping) Russian cyberattacks, it is CREATING US cyberattacks on Russia.

But, don’t get me wrong…he sure is ACTING like a Russian asset, just as Musk’s GROK AI says he is!!

I think we are all watching what is happening and wondering when we are going to reach the tipping point, because so far it’s nearly all been talk.

And there's a school of thought - James Carville shares this view - that those who voted for Republicans aren't going to change their mind until such time as they've experienced personal pain. Stay out of the news, don't stir things up, and let Trump implode. Only after it's obvious to any idiot - as inflation rises, prices of goods increase, deaths due to fentenal haven't decreased - and so on - only then speak up. And focus on these issues - issues that actually matter to the swing voter. DO NOT FUCKING DEFEND THE WOKE AGENDA - it's a losing issue.

There's literally no "woke agenda", it's a fucking over inflamed talking point rammed home non stop by conservatives making it into a bigger issue than it is.

What happens if it isn’t, I’d not put it past his mate Vlad helping with those mid terms and beyond. When will Americans take it into their own hands, demonstrations etc?

Problem with so many batship crazy angles that Trump and Musk is doing is how do people demonstrate when there is so many different things to demonstrate against - it’s not like a poll tax riot where everyone can come together and agree - at the moment American people should be having protests against the tariffs, taking Canada, Greenland, Panama, in support of Ukraine , the fed cuts … how on earth can a protest gather and have voice when there is so many different things going on.

But, most of the posters on here are smarter than that, right?
Yes they are. but the people in America probably don't really understand how angry people across Europe are with Trump and don't understand how America could elect him. They don't really stop and think about the maths of what percentage of Americans voted him in and they look for ways to stop buying American or 'punish' America.
Of course most will try and do that in a way that doesn't inconvenience or hurt their pockets too much. hence something like Amazon probably won't notice much impact.

To be honest Vic I came on the thread yesterday because posters were discussing having to choose a "white straight man" to represent Democrats next time. And bemoaning the fact.
And then suggesting that a better candidate be excluded if they are of a different race/ gender.

How is that kind of conversation in general helpful if things are to be improved?

Maybe your answer will be along the lines of "brutal realism" but don't you find it ridiculous?
Best candidate, best message----no brainer.
