He's just having a terrible season. It happens with players and can happen with managers too. His blindspots for certain players has been at the detriment of the team all season. Bernardo shouldn't be playing, especially on the right wing. Bringing on Kovacic who's continually shown he's not a six etc.

I agree that the midfield was not up to much given Nico is slow, ditto Bernardo and Foden off form. Why not play O'Reilly?
But essentially it's the dinosaur tactics that are doing for us.

We've taken 19 points from the last 10, which included games against 5 of the top 6 (the only other being ourselves) since the transfer windown opened.

The idea that he has dinosaur tactics (I mean, fuckinghell, look who you're talking about) and things aren't improving is daft.

It is clear as daylight we got away with it at the start of the season because teams still treated us at the juggernaut we once were. Once teams found out that there is loads of ways you can put this team under pressure previously impossible, results and consistency have been awful.

I do wonder how this season would have looked like if teams didn't play into our hands in the first 3 months. Even back then we were many that saw how poor we were

Dias is right though, high line is suicidal if there’s no press. As has been demonstrated over and over and over again this season.

You can play hypothetical games like that all day.

Where would we be if Rodri hadn't got injured, or if we didn't have three of our four senior centre backs out for most of the season? We'd probably be somewhere between Arsenal and Liverpool.

The fact is that we've been much better since the transfer window and things are working again. Our final ten fixtures are much easier than our previous ten, from which we took 19 points.

No I don't. We are playing the same sideways football that we have the last 5 years. Difference is our players look bored with it, and it is boring to watch. But more importantly all the other teams have changed. Faster, younger and more direct. That's not going to change.
We are wasting Haaland. He's not the striker for this. Nowhere near mobile enough.

Pep won’t like that. He always bangs on about how brave his defenders need to be - Dias has been fine with it for years so what’s the issue today? Against Chris fucking Wood?

Besides, that tactic from Pep today was the least of our worries tactically and from him. The subs were criminal.

Doesn't have the answers anymore

I remember his first season when he ‘didn’t have the answers’ either. There were a fair few on here wanted him gone.
The PL had found him out, tikka taka would never work, he’ll be gone in a year.

I’m far from a ‘happy clapper’ but, after the unprecedented run of success he’s given us, after me feeling things at a football match I never thought I’d feel, after taking that banner at old Trafford and shoving it up their collective arses, after 4 in a row and after 2 trebles, I’m more than happy for him to have an off season, and that would be true if he perhaps hadn’t stayed too loyal to a few players who might be passed it, hadn’t had a terrible injury crisis and hadn’t seen his marriage fall apart…..

9 wins out of 16 possible since January 1. And if we exclude wins against teams from lower leagues, it's 6 wins out of 13 possible. Much better? No chance.
