Massive game against an in form Brighton (6 wins in a row). I think this will be a good indicator of whether we're a Top 5 team this season or not and the resilience in the squad.

Think you have more chance of Ederson in midfield than Nico O’Reilly starting, might be wrong but just can’t see it. Knowing Pep he’ll go with Kev and Bernie. Can’t wait!!

This team wouldn't make the top 8, let alone the top 4. The idea that those who didn't start in the last defeat must be better than those who did may seem attractive but it is a bit daft.

Currently, we have many players who are in poor form, especially in midfield where only Nico G is a firm starter. Foden, KDB, Bernardo and Gundo aren't good enough these days. Better play the team that started vs. Spurs.

Well that's the point isn't it, You've named four players that haven't been good enough, So that leaves us down to the bare bones.

Everyone is going back to the team that played against Spurs, What about the team that battered Newcastle 4-0 (Which was our best performance of the season), That team had Rico Lewis, Gundogan and Phil Foden all in the starting line up.

Kovacic is another that started against Spurs, He hasn't been pulling up trees either, Truth be told he's been bobbins.

O'Reilly deserves his chance that's not even up for debate, How many times does he have to prove himself to show Pep he deserves a Premier League start, Before we know it he'll be sold and become a hell of a player elsewhere and he'll be one of numerous players that's got away.

De Bruyne legs are gone yet I'd still have him starting, At least he had to bollocks to try something different, Take risks with the ball and open the opposition up, The rest have it all too easy playing it safe.

So the idea of not starting players that started in the previous defeat isn't daft, It's daft continuously playing the same players and expecting different results.

Bournemouth got there first Premier League win against us this season.

Nottingham Forest got there first Premier League win against us this season.

Liverpool beat us for the first time in 10 years at The Etihad in the Premier League.

They said on Match Of The Day last night that this is Brighton best form since 1981, Next up Manchester City.

Great.

Just another tough game that we're gonna have to turn up for .... and our finishing, should we get any chances, will need to be better than yesterdays ..... games are fast counting down, and our European chances look to be diminishing by the week!

We used to have some games already half-won in the tunnel - now these (previously?) 2nd-tier teams can't wait to have a crack at us, whether at their place or ours.

They all have that extra spring in their step. Early in the slump each side probably feared that 'today might be the day' that the real City show up again - I think it's probably gone past that stage, now.

Would really like to see some of the young blood given chances in games that really matter - which is every one from now on this season - there's only so much you can learn in training, and what if Pep starts with them beginning of next season and they can't cut it? Surely we need to find out sooner rather than later?

this cannot be a loss. if we lose this maybe all CL places rivals overtake us by end of round 29 and then they just need to match our points tally in last 9 game to stay ahead of us which wont be too much if with one week gaps before games we lose to Forest and Brighton back to back.

the three home games left vs CL place rivals Brighton, Bournemouth, Villa, we need to make sure we dont lose any of these 3. that will just give them so much extra belief and momentum that we could do without.
we lost all three of these away from home tho so Emery, Iraola, Hurzeler already have recent memory of beating Pep. and we have the Fa cup game too coming up in 3 weeks which will be a brutal hard game away to Bournemouth vs their tempo and pressing.

It's daft continuously playing the same players and expecting different results.

The same players won at Spurs, so your point is a bit strange. Also, you are jumping to conclusions on the basis of a difficult win against the worst team in the Championship. Fortunately, Pep won't play the team you are suggesting. It's midtable quality.

Peps lack of having a plan b will cost us. Still fuming at the toothless display yesterday and the constant use of the wingers who couldn't provide the ball to the big fella. Seems every team has moved on while we carry on with boring lateral or backwards possession with no end result. Tight margins but we should be spanking forest.

Can't argue with this mathematical genius... :-)

then again, they'll be playing matches among themselves - that'll help, won't it?

They were top against Spurs. Short memories.

Anyone blaming our performance at Forest on Doku and Savinho is being foolish. Pep went with a safety first tactics which helped us control their transitions most of the time, but at the expense of our attack.

That's the main problem on football forums: silly over reactions, especially after poor results. Those people would relegate the best team in the world if they were managers.
To be fair, though - containment tactics haven't exactly worked this season, have they? They can't, when we make the same, glaring, mistakes match after match.

It's about time that we let other teams worry about our attacking strengths for a change. Containment hasn't worked - how about just trying to outscore somebody? Plenty of trophies have been won by teams with average/poor defences using this tactic

We are a bit weak in defence and midfield, going gung ho away from home against a good counterattacking side might result in a humiliating result. The 7:0 win that Forest had vs. Brighton played on Pep's mind. Also, a draw would have been a decent result and arguably we deserved to win a point.

At home we are pretty attacking. We'll attack Brighton from the start. Given that we play at home and that their style is more convenient than Forest's, I expect a win (if we don't field players based on their past achievements...).

Name this team (in house ofc) Monday, work 5 days repeatedly practising high tempo, forward, fast and direct attacking plays in possession. Savio and Doku practice hundreds of times to beat the first defenders when in crossing positions. Out of possession, practice everyone is the first line of defence, even you Erling.

----‐--------Eddy
Khusanov Dias Reis Gvardiol
----Nico_Gonz Nico_OReilly
----Savio Marmoush Doku
-------Haaland

Hopefully Bobb and Echeverri as subs

Give Bernardo, Kova and Rico the weekend off to recharge their batteries, ready for the run in.
