President Trump

I remember talking to a Hawaiian in 2016 - she was adamant that he'd been bailed out by the Russians and the Chinese, it didn't seem to be a secret even back then.
It makes a lot more sense than him being worried about some sex tapes Putin has of him. That wouldn’t shame him.
Being in serious debt is the only thing that might bother him.
Not paying small businesses what he owes them is one thing but having a Russian debt noose around his neck is another.

Disagree.

"Gammon" has a literary heritage and tradition dating back to Dickens if not beyond.

I believe the rumour that Tennyson called him a "woke snowflake," are yet to be corroborated.

Have just read it was used as early as the 1600's, in prose and poetry, to insult Westphalians. Everyday is a school day.

Earlier I mentioned the hatchet job he's doing on judicial procedure. I've seen this which someone else has put together:

Lost in the noise of the past two weeks, not many people noticed that Trump took some unprecedented steps to nullify the one branch of Government he doesn't completely control - the judiciary.

Firstly, he fired any Justice Department prosecutors who participated in investigations against him, and removed the security clearances of any former intelligence officials who have criticised him publicly, including former President Biden.

He signed an executive order removing the security clearances and banning from federal buildings for any lawyer that was found to have assisted in impeachment investigations against him. Even those acting pro-bono.

He signed an executive order banning not-for profit workers from a federal loan forgiveness scheme if they were deemed to have engaged in "improper" activities. This would likely include any not-for profits that challenge his policies in court.

He then signed an executive order requiring any plaintiff wishing to challenge the legality of Trump's actions in court to provide, up front, a bond covering the totality of the Government's legal costs, to be forfeited in full if the case fails.

These are all clearly designed to deter anyone from using the courts to restrain him, and they will work.

Almost no one will have the money available to provide the necessary bond to even get their day in court, and even if they did... how many
lawyers would want to take that job?

It should be noted that this is exactly how Putin took control of Russia. Make resistance too costly. Intimidate the public into apathy.

Had he been a regular government employee he wouldn't be allowed a basic level of security clearance, let alone anything higher, and yet here he is with the nuclear codes and a map of where all the bodies are buried.

"I'll take 'things a guilty person doesn't do' for $500 please Ken".

There's a bit more to it than that, but I well take your point in this specific case and more generally.

Judges are not required to grant the requests, but if they do so, plaintiffs who sue the government could be forced to put up enormous sums of money in order to proceed with their cases.

"Federal courts should hold litigants accountable for their misrepresentations and ill-granted injunctions,” Trump said in the executive order, accusing “activist organizations” of obtaining improper and overbroad injunctions.

Challenging an injunction as improvidently granted is fine of course, that's SOP, whichever POTUS is ordering it.

Right here is a case being decided on this very issue before our eyes - you'll enjoy the irony of Trump accusing the other guy of over-breadth.

What is Next?

Judge Abelson’s injunction, although informative of the grounds on which the [Executive]Order might ultimately be ruled unenforceable, does not automatically resolve the uncertainty faced by federal contractors. On March 4, 2025, the government sought to stay the injunction pending its appeal of the Court’s injunction. The outcome of the appeal may not be known for several months. Additionally, the Trump administration may redraft the Order to provide more clarity to the undefined terms in an attempt to address the First Amendment and Fifth Amendment concerns identified by Judge Abelson. Ultimately, the Order may remain in place, whether in its current form or in a modified form.

This in itself is a fairly major impediment to access to justice, which is guaranteed under the US constitution.

Expect challenges to this if not anything else in that hitlist.

What absolute twats they were. Boils my blood just thinking about it.

Dead right, they establish the precedent of peace reached by diplomatic congress and the concept of co-existent sovereign states that don't interfere with each other and all of a sudden they think they are a cut above. Bastards.
I say that as someone who's got a mate from Gelsenkirchen so it stands to reason I'm not being racist about it.

I’d say I was shocked but I’d be fucking lying.

Who could possibly have predicted the economic chaos unleashed by this administration in the first six weeks? This was never foreseeable. No one was warned. After all, it shouldn't matter which GOPer is President -- Republicans are good for the economy. They bring predictable, business-friendly policies that will result in lower inflation and steady growth. I am frankly amazed that Trump, who is such a sound business mind and has been so successful, is being so obtuse and all over the map. There's nothing in his past to suggest he would be anything other than a steady hand on the tiller.

Two possibilities:
1) This is irony;
2) Dax has hacked FogBlue's account!

anyone old enough to remember when in his 1st term as far as he was concerned the stock market was THE economy?
