Cheltenham 2025

Each way? So what odds did he get? Isn't it a quarter of the odds? Excuse what may seem obvious questions; I don't remember ever putting a bet on in my life. The lottery is the extent of my gambling.
Each way means you back it for a win and a place. Fiver ew at 50/1 paid £332.50.

Yeah; I know what each way means, thanks. I was just wondering what actual odds he got for an e/w bet; I thought you only got a fraction of the odds that you'd get for a simple win bet.
you get the 50-1 for one fiver and a quarter of the odds for the other fiver so 12.5-1

5 x 50 = 255 (stake returned)
5 x 12.5 = 67.50 (stake returned)

or £322.50

Half the stake is on the win at full price and half on the place at 1/4 or 1/5 the odds (depends on # of runners and bookmakers terms) if it wins you get paid out for both. If it only places you really get 1/10 or 1/8 of the odds as you lose your win stake.

Depends on a few things like race type, amount of horses in the races its generally 1/5th odds for a place but that particular race was 1/4 so the win paid 255 and place paid 67.5.

I always feel that you need 8/1 for ew to be worth it.

I was a bit unlucky today, did a daft 50p E/W treble and doubles

Happygolucky 28-1 4th
Liam Swagger 12-1 3rd
In d'Or 40-1 6th paid 5 places

Would have been just shy of 315 quid, arse.

Me too I very very rarely place each way bets. Though the big Cheltenham handicaps are probably one of the few times where you can get some decent value from them nowadays with so many small fields in the day to day racing.

I got a bad feeling about Jonbon in the big race. Even though I have backed him got a feeling it gets beaten. Today's first race if Mullins wins it he could have 4 winners today. I done Gordon Elliott to train 6 winners at the festival so need him to get a winner or 2 sooner or later.

Really fancy the new lion in the first race but at a bigger price, I think Sixmilebridge could be a great ew shout

Also, not 100% sold on Jonbon, especially after yesterday's dramatics in the big races. Keep en eye on Solness at a bigger price that could quite easily win this. Beat Marine Nationale twice in the last few months, who is half the price

Could be a decent ew double

Marine Nationale trainer has said he has aimed the horse to peak for this race and is confident it will run a good race. I went head over heart think if Marine Nationale wins would be great for all involved when you think of his jockey that won in Cheltenham dieing after a nasty fall a few weeks back might be written in the stars that this horse wins.

I've been saying it for a while, and a lot more recently but I'm lumping on Jonbon, was waiting for evs to hit, which it just has, but 365 have a super boost of 7/4!

Easy money.................................

That was extremely impressive from The New Lion. Still think The Yellow Clay was in the wrong race, he's a relentless galloper and outstayed Willie's horse but The New Lion had an extra gear on the run in. Cracking ride from Harry Skelton aswell, perfectly timed. Not sure why I wasn't on it, probably because the Challow form turned out so bad but he did win it as easy as he liked.

He knows what he's doing that JP Mcmanus doesn't he!

What shall I back in the 2:40 then Blues? Only a small wager, just like a run for my money.

Think marmoush jumps better

Yeah shocking error at the first from him. May have still had a chance but Quai De Bourbon going down and hampering him was the final straw. Becoming a bloodbath for favourite backers. I only stuck him in a small muggy acca anyway but I know a lot of people who have done their absolute bollocks on Ballyburn there.
