President Trump

Brexiteers said pretty much the same thing, seemingly not having realised that Thatcher got rid of most of our means of production decades ago!

Oh, and there wasn't much demand for steam trains, typewriters and spitfires any more!
we might need the spitfires if the rumoured kill switch exists

This thread could get messy, so lets abridge things a little

1 - Greenland - I paraphrase but it was something along the lines of "Greenland will be ours one way or the other". To me, that sounds like a threat
2 - Canada - repeated references to it becoming the 51st state. Now I can't honestly see Canada voting for this, they aren't for sale, so what does that leave? threat
3 - Gaza - oh good, one you're not ok with. We largely seem to agree on this, though I would argue that relocating the Palestinians, whether it be temporary or not, is a decision for the individual

4 - Withholding Intelligence - Promotes a ceasefire on Russian terms. I'm not sure how this can be seen to be "right"
5 - Siding with Russia - You say negotiating with both sides, yet there has been no talk (at least in the publiic domain, which is all we can judge things on) about Russian concessions, just Ukraine giving up its resources to America and its territory to Russia. Combining this with 4, this isn't negotiating this is bullying, threat and intimidation and you should be able to see that
6 -Zelenskyy was set up in the white house fiasco, and "deal" reached is as a result of 4 and 5. But at least you agree shitgibbon was wrong. though to say "exchanged barbs" is disingenuous, Zelenskyy responded to the attack from your people
Yes this will get messy. So lets make it 3 topics. 1-3 (Greenland, Canada Gaza) whoch we can easily dispense with. 4-6 ( Ukraine, we can discuss) now then we can Jen Psaki 7 thru 10 later

Greenland- Canada-Gaza:
1. Greenland - I dont think there is anything he or the US can do if Greenlander's simply don't want any relationship with the U.S. i will concede, if you are already suspicious of someone, a statement like that will be deemed a threat. I dont think he is threatening Greenland or Denmark. I think he is confident in the offer he has would be something Greenlanders would want and vote for.

Canada- Calling it the 51st State Is just a troll. A couple of Canadian leaders have also trolled back, should Americans consider that a threat? Its silly. We love Canada and want them to stay Canada. Granted, Electing Polliviere will please some of us very much :) ... There really is nothing here.

Gaza - We agree? Look what cordial discussing can reveal :)

I'm sorry what? Starmer supports Shitgibbons Tarriffs, stance on NATO, taking of Greenland, claiming Canada as the 51st state, evicting Palestinians from Gaza to build a holiday resort etc etc?

If you think that you really are thick. Or am I being thick and misunderstood your post?
Can you remind me when he has objected? He may well have done but I haven't seen/heard it. Has he?

Starmer has not told him he cannot say or do these things. He needs to step up and speak for the rest of the world in his role as a "bridge" between the US and Europe.

But I don't think he will, he's happy being a patsy for him.

Could I gently suggest informing yourself *before* holding an opinion?

Also, to let you know of a facility called an Internet search.

This from "Starmer Greenland". First hit.

And there I was thinking you'd come in from the cold, but it seems I was right after all

I said Starmer is not standing up against Trump.... you article confirms my understanding or do you only read the headlines?

No 10 said the prime minister was not seeking to become a go-between on the issue. But he added: “Greenland is a part of Denmark and constitutional arrangements are a matter for Greenland and Denmark.”

Asked whether the UK would "stand in solidarity" with Denmark if its territorial integrity was threatened, however, the spokesman said he would "not get into hypotheticals" or "offer a running commentary on these issues".

All he needed to say was I have made it clear to Trump that we and the rest of Europe do not back you on this.

He hasn't/didn't. Why not? after all he has him on speed dial when it suits.

Putin gloating that they are on the front foot and don't need a ceasefire.
Not realising the only reason for this is Trump's gift to them of withholding aid/weapons already agreed/given and handing the Ukraine a information/data blackout leaving them blind. It was the speed that Trump did this that caused the most damage.

Whatever happens next, history will already show Trump/America abandoned an ally/Ukraine in it's hour of need.
The Ukraine needed more support, not less. The "stalemate" often quoted wasn't helped by weapon restrictions by the US.

Dealing with Putin will always bite you on the arse at some point.

My point is that there are legitimate reasons why Trump would want to end this war without all the conspiracy stuff.

This is what happens when a small group of people create an echo chamber, they can’t and won’t accept that literal Hitler could have any good reasons for his actions.

Maybe Putin does have video of Russian prostitutes pissing on Trump after all?

Or maybe Trump is an American president trying to use his position to stop people dying?

I support his attempt to end the carnage and I wish him well.
Just to clarify, the info contained in the Steele dossier, was not that they pissed on Trump himself (unlikely as he's apparently a Germophobe) but that his hosts arranged for him to view the hookers pissing on the bed that Barack and Michelle Obama used when they visited Moscow (not that unlikely given his petty, vindictive nature and infantile sense of humour).

It’s hard to have a nuanced discussion about anything related to Trump for the reasons I’ve outlined.

I suspect Dax would be more willing to engage in a more open discussion if the other side weren’t so hostile.

It’s a bit like you going on a Liverpool forum and taking part in numerous discussions about City. You’d feel the need to fight your corner and I suspect that you’d very quickly become unpopular.

It’s a bit of a shame but probably in the nature of being on the internet these days.
I agree to a lot of that but I think people would be open to having a decent discussion if there was honesty regarding the actual decency. For example do you (or Dax) feel any disgust at the lack of decency related to Gaza, or Canadians or Ukrainians.

If there was common ground there then policies could be discussed. Many agree with actual goal of some of the policies for example but it'd very hard to discuss that when you think the other person is going to excuse anything.

It's like talking to a Liverpool fan who won't first agree that throwing coins at kids, spitting at kids, attacking a bus, etc are not shameful. You might agree on football topics but distrust of their cult nature remains.
