Brighton and Hove Albion PL (H) | Post Match Thread

thats why we take no notice of xG data, a team could be under the cosh for 90 mins and go and win 1-0 in injury time, made up bullshit IMO
But thats not what happened today. They were the better team, had 15 shots and we were average (at best)

The bitching by fans on here is all part of this so-called Its Ok to be 2nd best this season by Pep, When he said that and added look what we have won the in the past it ok to finish 2nd best ?? I never thought for one minute I would ever hear Pep say that, never mind saying it mid-season, Pep is a winner full stop, He's in the game to win and he says never look back or take 2nd best,

When you see Haaland today he's walking and coasting games and Pep is letting this happen every week, even at fulltime Haaland was so unhappy and down it's hurting,

Players like Haaland need pushing and a manager on their case 24/7 and if you slip you're out of the team, When you are being allowed to coast and still play every week the manager should be questioned about what's going on.

Pep again post-match interview ?? come on.. enough of the shit talk, let's have it right today was not enough

Bournemouth have lost their last 3 PL home matches. Haven't won in their last 4 home matches in all competitions. And haven't won any of their last 5 games (if you don't include a penalty shootout win)

They're not Peps Barca reincarnated
Bloody hell, didn't realise their run was that bad. Maybe we've got a chance.....! I mean if Rashford can get a call up to the England team then we can all dream.

Well another instalment of guess the plan…

Great run from Marmoush to win the penalty and a superb strike for his goal. Thought Khusanov was unlucky to knock that in but it happens. The game itself I thought was pretty even, with some terrible finishing from both sides. In terms of chances, they created better ones and will probably feel they should be heading home with 3 points.

What is our plan? Our crossing is shite. Our wingers, both of them are taking the piss. They both get past the defender with ease and then nothing. Absolutely nothing. Every single week.

Haaland peels off to the back post every time and we never hit him. The only time he gets the ball is when he has his back to goal. His touch and control are fucking awful, he’s just not that type of player. He needs chances to finish. Despite his great numbers, he’s wasted in this team as will Marmoush be.

There is no intensity. We cut about the pitch like we’re 4 nil up and make unforced mistakes constantly because we’re trying to employ tactics that the players aren’t capable of employing.

Ortega was poor today.

We have (Pep and the coaching staff) learned nothing at all this season other than persisting with a formula that other teams find fairly easy to play against now isn’t working. Yet we still do it. A full week to prepare and to rest again and I can’t see what he’s looked at. A little more creativity than we had at forest but as blunt as fuck.

Off they go on international duty before coming back for a bit of rondo before the Bournemouth game.

Other than that, it was ok.

It’s clear we ain’t a very good team at the minute. Struggled again to replace legends at the club which is no shame. We can’t and won’t be able to get it right all the time.

The football is turgid but the summer is coming and it will give us a proper chance to reset.

5 months of it after holding it together earlier in the season.
Strange thread.
Tough game against a tough opponent, and a strange game in some ways.
Both sides looked dangerous. Us with Marmoush and Doku, and Brighton with fast direct attacks.
We were, however, porous in the midfield, which made the defence look vulnerable.
Criticism of Lewis is strange, but predictable.
Gonzo and Gundo is simply not athletic enough to cope with us playing an additional attacker in support of Erling. Rodri and Gonzo may well be the longer-term solution with this formation, or it's one central attacker and an extra central midfield.
Calls for Guardiola's head are pathetic, and only seem to be made by those with very few posts.
Whose fault is it post take-over poster? We had a team of criminally expensive JG signings plus Lewis & Gundog back on a free. Got rid of two right backs so there are no excuses. We got 1 point off Brighton from 6 and led 3 times in both games.

Who has the better players? I doubt it is Brighton. The manager takes all credit and zero blame.

Absolutely shite, more and more questions everytime I watch us

We are so far off a title winning team it's untrue, and this isn't something that the return of Rodri will just resolve

I'd say we are probably 4 or 5 top quality additions short of challenging for the league next season

A keeper
2 fullbacks
Central player with energy
A goalscoring winger

We're actually really depressing to watch these days, it's unrecognisable vs what we've seen in the last 8 years

Be stunned if we finish in the top 5
We have a central player with bags of energy. He rarely loses the ball and can control games in many ways including drawing fouls. He covers every blade of grass and is unselfish with his play. Can’t get a look in. I give you Mr Grealish.

Other than that I completely agree.

I agree. I don't get his exclusion.

Today was a bit like most of the other games this season. We were OK in patches but then quite poor in others. There were quite a few daft unforced errors. Not sure who is coaching set pieces, we are poor at defending and taking them. We were lucky Brighton missed two good chances.

Marmoush took his goal well.

Ortega was shocking. His distribution is woeful.

Some of the players need a bit more fight.

This season has been mostly meh.

The thing that's pissing me off is the way how most teams are dominating us now, we're looking like a relegation threatened side such is our weak mentality. I'm sorry but people don't like hearing this but it starts from the top, Pep has a huge job on his hands to turn this round because as it stands this shit form isn't suddenly going to click into gear and we become a winning machine again. We have big problems and champions league qualification will come down to the last game

if, in a game of rock-paper-scissors, and the oppo knows you only have scissors...Pep took us to the very top using a system that depended on hand-picked world class players, similar to his Barca side, teams could not get the ball, and were punished for trying to match. 0-0 became the aim, even at their own ground, pressing became more than just running after the ball for ninety minutes, City must have been the most analysed team ever. Halfway through last season it was clear that football had changed, Rodri's injury was a bit of a smoke-screen, imo, we still had lots of possession, but very little penetration. Sounds crazy, but giving away a corner to us turned out to be a game-winner....for them. For years, even when losing, we were (with only a few exceptions) the best team on the day, definitely not true any more. Going back decades, i cannot recall a more drastic case of "the wheels coming off". The usual verdict of "lost the dressing room" is almost sacrilege after the constant stream of trophies Pep has masterminded, but the number of unforced errors, from players who can put the ball on a six-pence is baffling.

If we didn’t have the points from earlier in the season we would be right in the shit. In fact we don’t know what’s coming down the line from this 115 stuff. Maybe that’s why no one gives a shit. I honestly don’t know.
