In football you're only as good as your next game,

In your world does that mean we have to forget the last 7 years & ignore the fact that long term, we have 3 main defenders out as well as our ballon d’or winner.

This is NOT an excuse - no PL club could cope with that situation any better than we have - but it has affected our season. True supporters will recognise this.
Totally agree, there's no point whinging every week about where we are and how we're playing when we're playing half the squad that wouldn't normally be playing. I don't normally single out players, but Gvardiol's not the answer at LB, he doesn't close down enough, he doesn't try and tackle until they're in the box, then it's half-hearted because he doesn't want to give a pen away and his distribution is awful at times, often putting the ball out under very little pressure. But with Stones, Ake, Akanji etc out, Dias missing games and countless others means it's not just about injuries, it's about how the constant chopping and changing affects how we play. That's not an excuse, we had 11 players out at one stage.

I also think we're suffering to a degree from the fact that teams know how to play against us, i.e. put ten men behind the ball and hit us on the break. I hate to say it and never thought I would but maybe, just maybe, we need a complete change rom the top down, but to be fair we need to see how we play when we're back to strength. But while you can cope with two or three players out here and there, you can't spend an entire season with key injuries all the way through and expect much more than what we've got.

I think we've been a bit unlucky a lot of the time too, there ha been a lot of odd goals, the sort of half chances that 9 times out of 10 don't go in like the ricochet off Khusanov today which was slightly bizarre, Doku getting booked for simulation for jumping over a player to avoid injury then shortly after a Brighton player going down clutching his neck shortly after that should have been a second yellow for simulation, and just prior to the corner that led to their second it looked like Minteh was offside, but not spotted. Most of the season seems to have been like that.

Of course I recognise our struggles this season, and of course I love what I've watched in our recent glory years, but it's true, you're only as good as your next game,it's a simple fact of competitive sport,I don't expect us or any team to win every week, but I expect better than what I'm watching, which is nothing short of pathetic, I'm not entitled, I was at Wycombe and Chesterfield, Lincoln and Northampton, it doesn't matter,I went to watch my team with my mates, still do,but if my club now wants to be the among the biggest in the world and charge fans accordingly I'll fuckin moan at the rubbish I've watched this season! Up the Blues.

That’s a better post :-)

Ground full of tutting and moaning wankers today.

This City team had just three starters from what would be considered our strongest team just 20 months ago.

We are not a top side anymore, we are nowhere fucking near one. We are a team full of young inexperienced lads, new signings who are inexperienced in our league with the odd player from our successful recent past.

We are not a top side anymore. Expectations need to drop fucking massively!

The crowd acted like it was our top side of the last 8 years playing shite. Didn’t get behind them, moaned at everything that wasn’t perfect, got on the backs of those making mistakes… the stands were a fucking disgrace today, hang your fucking heads in shame!

Just as we attacked to score our second, someone made a mistake and everyone around me fucking moaned like fuck. I shouted ‘STOP FUCKING MOANING!’ and then BANG Marmoush put us ahead… then as it quietened down I had a go at everyone around me for being moaning cunts.

Critiquing the game after it’s finished is one thing - we weren’t great today and there are a lot of things missing from the team/squad… but being like that while play is going on in the ground is for cunts.

Fucking reign it in you moaning fuckers!

Now is the time to have your moan, here is the place to do it, don’t fucking get on the backs of the young lads, inexperienced players and new signings IN THE GROUND! That’s the fucking last thing they need.

And just because they aren’t providing us with great football and 4-0 wins, don’t just sit in silence waiting for it to happen… be proactive in the stands and get behind the team. And stop fucking moaning at them in the ground!
Absolutely spot on re. the playing squad we're having to go with. Had this been Liverpool or Arsenal that had been forced to cope with the sheer number of players and the constant chopping and changing we've had to deal with this season they would have been lucky to make the top half of the table.

Yet despite everything we're still within the CL qualifying places and a decent chance of the FA Cup final again. People expect too much and we're lucky we've got owners who are willing to put money into it when they needed to, few, if any other clubs would have committed so much in the January window.

Just a shit season. Who is getting it on this thread tonight though? Late to it, Ive been out on the piss all day. Rico had it, and Gundo probably....

Lucky to get away with a point if we’re being honest. I don’t even really get angry any more, it’s just a reflection of where we are as a team at the moment. We’re miles off it, and top 5 feels like anything but a formality. Hopefully we’ll do enough over the rest of the season to drag ourselves over the line, but it’s been a pretty disastrous campaign all in all. Can’t begrudge them one bad season after everything they’ve achieved over the last few years, but the concern is how we turn things around. Squad feels like it needs a fairly major overhaul in the summer.
I don't think it needs a major overhaul, I think too many have lost sight of the fact that we're missing several key players and have been all season, but the main thing I think many fail to recognise is how much that affects the balance of the team, having to keep chopping and changing every week, not getting a settled squad, playing players out of position, playing players who need resting or are just not quite ready for playing 90 minutes every week. We've been absolutely hammered with injuries this term, we had 1 players out at some point, but it's the disruption it causes that is the real problem, not just the fact that those players are missing. I think the fact that we're still in with a decent chance of qualifying for the CL (and still in the FA Cup), all things considered, is pretty amazing not disastrous.

If my life depended on Doku delivering a decisive final pass but I've been offered Russian roulette as an option, I'd definitely choose the latter.
He has some very good games but his bad games can be very bad. Personally, I can't be arsed about dribbles if they don't lead to anything. I'd rather have a winger that keeps the ball well and helps his fullback in the defence.

lots of likes xxx

maybe,,,but why would the CL performances suffer, me i think its down to the 115,not so much as were going to lose the case but the damage to the club has been done, the constant shit were getting week in week out in the press,it must have some affect on the team
If you're not training well, recovering well, sleeping well etc, it will affect performances on the pitch irrespective of the competition.

Pep is not doing anywhere near his best. We all know what his best is and this shite is nowhere near.
You wonder if Pep's marriage issues are affecting his job.
Obviously no idea but it's hard to explain his methodology these days.
The way we are playing is excruciating. I love the guy but how can we suddenly go from brilliant to terrible in such short a time?

It’s sad to see our once reliable defence( especially at home ) reduced to our second goal conceded, where two Brighton players left unmarked in 6 yard box from a corner….please, I don’t care who is out, Dias, Guardiol are international players, how is that gap left.you have to wonder about our defensive coaches, looking at the horrendous goals conceded this season. They all train side by side every day, so whoever is in should know his place.

Over the last few years, we have gone from having a luxury of midfielders, to only having Rodri.

Gundog and KDB are too old to play that role, so we are left with youngsters.
I don't think Kevin is finished yet, but Gundo is. Sure Kevin will be in the squad next season.

It’s criminal. It has to be a lifestyle thing but it’s the same lifestyle thing that Jack has had since he was old enough to get served in a pub. So we definitely knew about it before we signed him. I genuinely can’t think of anything else. His performances haven’t lit the world alight but then he’s barely played in “his” position, which is also criminal. When he has played centrally he’s done very well.
We're supposed to put a lot of effort into understanding a potential signing's character, so I simply can't understand how we signed a total pisshead.

It's like Pep has no plan B.
Once we had the world class players to break down a parked bus.
But now we don't. Surely Pep can see this. ?

You wonder if it's his missus that is the football genius.

We were out played by a team and manager who had courage and belief, not a team that put 10 men behind the ball and hit us on the break.
Very lucky to get a point we didn't deserve.

Think people are getting a bit OTT here

Todays srarting 11 is the shape of things to come with a few tweaks and withva few tweaks have the making of a title winning team in development

swap ortega, who lets be fair isn't as good as eben a disinterested ederson for a new top class keeper, and was poor for both goals
Have rodri back and in for gundo alongside nico and we are already more solid in midfiled.
Have a out and out replacement for walker and a real left back
And that team would have balance and a spine not many would beat.

Yesterday either team could have won it, and we had a forward 4 that in the first half pressed forward more than sideways and backwards which has become a thing this season duse to old legs.

Pep past it??? nah, everyone has a season where it isn't the best, but that doesn't mean its the end.

I just hope he picks this 11 again with maybe kev or grealish in for gundo as the future of this new younger team looks bright

Think people mistake and conflate the winning 4 titles in a row as some sort of 'get out' that we are playing absolutely shite football tbh.

Yes we won the titles previously, I personally don't care if we never win another in my lifetime, I do however want to see us play some football that is at least entertaining. If that means getting beaten, absolutely fine, but this shit show we are getting served up isn't entertaining in the least, all I hear is passing stats are great, expected goals etc. In truth its fucking awful, sideways, slow build up, passing for the sake of passing and unable to do basic shit like defending, attacking corners, free kicks... Basically everything Pep has always said he doesn't want his teams to play if you read his books, so change it up a bit Pep, please!

Doku and Savinho aren't starters in any of the other top teams in footy either, if this is the system we are going with it requires wingers that actually have end product. They need to spend every training session practicing shooting under pressure.
