Maybe it’s injuries but his lack of pace underpins his inability to stop quick breaks.

When does he even make tackles anymore, he was never as good on the ball compared to Stones, Laporte etc but he made up for it with his leadership and defensive ability. But if that’s gone, what’s the point?

Completely anecdotal and probably miles off it but as soon as he started dating Cheshire housewives and Tv presenters, to me he it seemed like his hunger started evaporating.

Not the same player for me, maybe it’s because he won it all too soon?

But just remember when he came in, genuine captain material, I don’t think you could say that now? But who knows what goes on behind closed doors.

As a fanbase we have always overrated him

Poor in the air, slow and not that great on the ball. He’s a leader though apparently

Sick of hearing those poxy interviews he does in the press

dont think playing 2 at the back is helping Gardiol plays in no mans land and dont get me started on lewis.
there was 5 minutes to go yesterday we had a corner only ortage in our half the rest stood static in their box

He isn’t no leader and tbh we haven’t got a leader and haven’t since vinny .

Good time to let him go ...we can still get 50 m for him .Use the funds to get a proper RB or LB .
Stones and Ake are 30 and won't fetch more than 50 m combined

How does he maintain a relationship with a celebrity bird in London ? Is he constantly flying down and up despite being injured most of the time ?

Another one not good enough, doesn’t win headers, not dominant in the slightest. Offers nothing.

I think there's a really good player underneath as since 2020, he's given us 4 good seasons and 2 of them were best in the world types.

This season he's been injured so much.. I'd actually want to shut him down and allow him to heal fully but not gonna happen.

Ruben's lack of form started this november after he came back from 6 games injured. Not really ready to throw in the towel on him but he desperately needs a rest.

Man’s bulked up so much he’s moving like a fridge nowadays. So stiff and slow.

I like him, but think we should sell since he’s still got some market value.

Another one who's form has fallen off a cliff.
How can so many great players become average in one season?

Overplayed due to poor recruiting.
Little to no competition do to poor recruiting.

The fact is that Man City haven't been nearly active enough in the summer transfer window for 2 and possibly 3 seasons running.

The result of which is that our owners have avoided expense from pursing top talent, but at the same time, our squad - once the best in football - is worse and worse due to age.

Consequently - our clearly best-in-the-world squad has devolved into a hopefully top-5 P/L team.

I've said this before but his form seems to dip when something is in press. That Arabella girl from Love Island, now this Maya Yama one?

I know people say he's a leader but not to Vinny level. He had a stable relationship with girl from Manchester and family and always felt it gave him a platform to be the best he could be at City - even with injury challenges he had.

He is not good as prime Vinny , nor as good a leader as Vinny .the only thing common between them is the injury record .When fit Ake and Stones have been better than him .His lack of pace was concerning when we signed him ,he is slowed down considerably .
My opinion is that we should sell him if we get any offer over 40 million

In this case believing his own hype?

He is a good defender but that's all for me, superb leadership skills but against the very best and particularly against pace looks like a bang average PL CB.

I cannot grasp how so many seem to be ignoring the injury list that has wiped out Ruben's partners and central midfield protection. It isn't a difficult concept that if John Stones, Nathan Ake, and Manuel Akanji, as well as Rodri, are out for large parts of the season, your own game may be affected. All the stuff about his love life and his hype is 'finger in the air and ignore all we know about a player's character'. Get a grip.
