It’s not really the clubs responsibility.
If they’ve been handed official documentation around the DoB then they’ve acted in good faith.
They’re not there to then do tests to age the player.

It’s not anything new either.
Taribo West was allegedly a lot older than he said, was it Harry Redknapp who openly joked about how old Kanu was and who can forget this guy

Ages ago I spoke to a Nigerian friend of mine about Taribo west, she basically said a lot of people in the rural communities don’t know when they were born and it’s not difficult to bribe an official for a fake passport.

It’s not just an issue in Africa but I believe South America has its own problems with this.

In all it’s not a new issue and city will have acted in good faith. Not really the fault of the club. Just another hit piece, probably by some dipper journalist.

Not seen any evidence. Just innuendo except for Dildo the United player who lied about his age, but you have to go way down the article to find that out.
 
To be clear. Clubs (outside of the EU) cannot sign any player from abroad until they are 18 under Fifa regulations. Pre brexit anyone from the EU could sign from the age of 16. There will be a reduced number of foreign born players in younger age groups at any club (unless parents can prove they moved here for genuine non football reasons). It begs the question when this happened and if recent does this mean signing players who are supposed to be over 18 earlier.

It also opens up the possibility of falling foul of Fifa anti child trafficking regulations. If they are in the younger age groups one would assume they had already been approved via Fifa and everyone has been conned
