I remember Petrov hitting one whilst warming up at Shrewsbury in a pre season friendly....thudded against the advertising boards, half the stand jumped and went 'OOO'

I always thought the problem with Petrov was that he hit his crosses with the same power as his shots, regardless of where any attacker was in the box.

Some interesting answers here to the question I posed in my original post.

That shot of Tarnat's v Blackburn was something to behold, but he didn't make a habit of it, unfortunately. Nice to see Neil Young and Alan Oakes get a mention, though nobody seems to agree with me about Franny Lee...... maybe it's an age thing.

Nicky Summerbee is interesting. He was once recorded on TV as having the hardest shot when measured electronically, but did you ever see him produce one in an actual game? Sergio and Kolarov, on the other hand, did.

I had forgottenabout Rodri's goals. Some were incredible strikes, and hopefully someone could dig up a bit of archive film of them. If only I could remember who they were against!

The one he smacked against the cross bar from distance,against spurs ,his home debit iirc, was incredibly hard.
I watched that on sky TV and remember saying wow when his no back lift, bullet shot went like a missile.

Paul Stewart could hit a ball properly. Birmingham at home 3nil,just after the 10-1 Huddersfield game.


As could Mark Ward,particularly from the penalty spot,seen him score many a pen by hitting the ball with his right instep so hard the keeper had no chance whatsoever.
I remember anfield away,under Kendall or Reid, we were 2-1 down with a minute to go,having played superbly ,last min pen ..Ward stepped up,and blasted the hardest penalty I've ever seen in my life,nearly took grobelaars face off !
Last min equaliser at anfield ,nothing better to set you up for a full night's boozing in scouseland.
