Pearce was fundamentally a good coach, it all went wrong when he started listening to fluffy toys sat under the bench.
Can’t really call it entertainmentI'd rather walk out of the room than watch Pearce's City team.
In fact I'd still rather do that if it was in-flight entertainment.
My first season as a city fan was 1979 I was 9. The worse football I had seen up until Pearce was Frank Clark. His first full season was the first I got my lad a ST. He'd been to a few games before so had seen some of the KK games etc.
He's still a ST holder now, I for one can look back and that the mad boring fucker (not my son), my lad may not have memories of some of the real shite we all had to watch but he has that season under SP as a grounding.
Exactly. Folk can't post a balanced view on Pearce's time at City because they fail to take into account the away results, which kept us up,because they weren't there. The Charlton 5-2 away win being a case in point. His lowest points total was better than Keegan's, Ball's and Royle's, even better than Mc/Friz in 1987 with 42 games,
We had some great aways when the home form slumped, pity not many went to them as we were not fashionable.
Complete lies.Stuart Pearce is a bitter ****. That failed miserablly and created the worst record for a city manager. Took the club to a record low points and a record low goal scored goals. Realistally lost the club a core of 6,000 fans. Some might say we never truly recovered from that awful period
It was the lowest goals total ever that's a fact.Home form was atrocious, made me stop going ,but we finished 14th that season so claims it was the lowest goals total ever and worse than Ball etc are just complete lies

Pearce was my worst City manager but to balance things out he was a brilliant player and I met him once (when he was at City) and he seemed a genuine nice bloke. Alan Ball on the other hand…..Exactly. Folk can't post a balanced view on Pearce's time at City because they fail to take into account the away results, which kept us up,because they weren't there. The Charlton 5-2 away win being a case in point.
Home form was atrocious, made me stop going ,but we finished 14th that season so claims it was the lowest goals total ever and worse than Ball etc are just complete lies...,.The home games bored me stupid, but, looking back, I'll be forever grateful he kept us up.....our history would have been so much different if we,d have gone down that season, some fans need to remember that....and the fact we lost our best player, swp to Chelsea, leaving us with a mediocre team of has been s.....
The current City squad is much much better than the Pearce era,but we lost our best player ,and look at the points difference this season....
What are we,10 days or so after the bloke nearly died....and some fans can only focus on 9 months the mans long career in football, and how it upset them,FFS.
Not one of Pearce's games in charge was as defensive as Mancinis City at Arsenal away when we barely crossed the half way line, had no shots on goal at all,and came away with a nil nil draw.....a defensive master class
And that was with a team costing millions and an experienced manager....contrast that with Pearce's City and an inexperienced manager cutting his teeth with a crap squad....
Your reply reminded me why I hardly ever post on here.....pointless.Just like Mancini brought in David Platt as his assistant manager ,utd fan who hated City ....and we won the league ,beating utd to the title ...And your point is ?
Fact is he kept us up after a relegation battle ( have you forgotten that ?) and we have remained top league ever since, making the club attractive to overseas investment ...Did u .forget that also ?
As our former manager recovers from a heart attack ,all u can think of is he brought Steve wigley to our club ?
FFS.
Your reply reminded me why I hardly ever post on here.....pointless.
'He kept us up after a relegation battle'
Great how we 'stayed up' after not scoring a goal at home for half a season wasn't it?
Imagine if any of that was actually his fault lol. He's got well and flown home now so all good. Wish him well, he's just a terrible manager, awful pundit, and hates City.
Other than that thanks for your reply, you made some really useless points
I’ve never known the look on anyone’s face make a sound, I wouldn’t have a clue what his face was supposed to look like as I was in IstanbulWe’ll if it sounds like the look on his face that night , you may have a problem reading a room ,
Nowhere near as bad as Ball or Clarke… or Neil or Coppell. The only manager since I started going in 1984 that made me not want to go to watch City
Worst manager in my lifetime by a country mile
Alan ball was a football genius in comparison
Worst City manager? George Poyser says "hold my pipe". If he'd been in charge much longer we'd have been playing York 30-odd years earlier. Pearce kept us up when we didn't have money and could easily have been relegated, which would probably have knocked the takeover on the head. The football certainly wasn't pretty but it worked.
Isaksson was a let down. Always injured.,Pearce had
Isaksson, Hart and Schemeichel in net
Dunne, Distin, Onohua and Richards in defence.
Hamann, Johnson, Barton, Reyna and Ireland in midfield.
Mpenza, Vassel, Dickov and Sturridge up front.
Anyone who thinks he "saved us" from relegation with that squad needs their head testing. In fact with a decent LB, winger and a striker thats a top 6 squad back then
Agreed.Isaksson was a let down. Always injured.,
Hart and schmeichel were kids then.
Richard’s was just coming through at that time and was decent. Nedum was limited and his technique was poor for a top flight player.
Ireland had his breakout season the next season same as Johnson.
Reyna and Bosvelt were always injured and lacked and mobility and the same for hamman who was at the end of his time..
Musampa had no pace for a winger
Barton was the shining light in that side.
Dickov was finished when he came back and never looked like scoring and Sturridge again was a kid who was just coming through.
We had no pace anywhere and no chance a top six with that squad. Mid table at best.
I’m not Pearce fan boy although it probably looks like I am one but some of the stuff being written is just re-writing history.
Look at the squad ball had in 95:96 for comparison. Now that was a squad that should have been looking for a top six finish.
Yes midtable. I literally said "if you add 3 players that could be top 6" which implies it is not currently top six.We had no pace anywhere and no chance a top six with that squad. Mid table at best.
