The standard of punditry

They're not interested in analysis and insight, they're interested in little clips of 'hilarious' banter they can put online. Ironically, if you want decent tactical insight these days, you're more likely to get it on Youtube from someone who's done their coaching badges than someone who's played at the highest level of the game. There's a reason managers are usually better pundits. A lot of players made a career basically doing what they were told by someone who actually knew about tactics.

Genuinely football fans are treated like shit.
The standard of punditry in this country is shocking. They follow a clear agenda line from their employer.

I use to enjoy the pundits/commentators on cycling, unfortunately that has now gone to subscription tele :(
Yes they would go on about other things, they had 5 hrs of racing to cover lol. But on the whole it was informative and interesting.

Football pundits is just like a group of people in a pub talking shit. I tend to watch with the sound low or off. It doesn't effect the enjoyment much as the tv companies turn the crowd sound down at City games anyway.

Majority of ex footballers appear to be thick fukers……..

Generally, I turn off football commentary now. I find the yearning for any underdog to win skews any objectivity. Of course, this now affects our games more than ever, with any opposition chance exaggerated wildly. Our recent win against Plymouth is a case in point, with the half-time pundit contending that we nearly were given a heart-attack. I think the end-game stats were 27 shots to us and 2 to the opponent and we had more than seventy percent of the ball - it was one-sided yet made out to be something completely different. It feels like it is all about the headline, the click-bait, and the exaggeration, rather than proper analysis. The need to fill every moment with facile stories also is a head-scratcher: just focus on the game...PLEASE!

Cricket punditry is getting much worse.

It’s generally just about holding up in test cricket, but all the rest of it is shouty bantz.

It's all terrible.
Either a woman or a rag or dipper.
The obvious bias towards certain teams make you sick

Then the stopping speaking so we can listen to you'll never murder alone is an absolute fucking joke.
Do they think fans of every team gives a fuck about a load of Scandinavian and Irish tourist singing a song that was sung by almost every club in the country at one time .
Ive said loads of times.
I have IPTV.
I will not watch anything on sky sports.
Or tnt.
I watch every game on optus or whatever foreign channel.
Turn it on at kick off.
Off at half time .
Back on for the 2nd half.
Back off at full time

Turned on the Wales game on BBC Wales. lasted 2 minutes due to a female co commentator who just wouldn’t shut up.
Now watching it on S4C and even with Welsh commentary its much better.
Why any game needs a co-commentator baffles me, most enjoyable games cor me are when your given the option of crowd noise only.
So many games i stop watching due to who is commenting as i just cannot listen to alot of them.

You just have to go back to last week's cup final. The commentator said Liverpool had only lost 1 game in all competitions
When the Rags brought on a youngster last week, commentators started on about the crap of their youth academy and always having a player in the squad since the dinosaurs became extinct.
The player they were on about was bought from Watford in 2024.
