BBC stats (under Distribution) for PSG vs us and the 2 games against Liverpool show that PSG have the higher backward pass to forward pass ratio in all 3 games. So given the choice of a safer backwards pass and more risky forward pass, PSG were the more likely team to choose the safer backward pass in all 3 games.
This shows PSG play a possession game and are perfectly happy to pass backwards in order to keep the ball and wait for the moment to pass forwards. So I think your assertion is misleading as in all 3 games PSG were the team who were happier to wait before trying the riskier forward pass. PSG created more chances because they had more of the ball in all 3 games and now have creative and energetic players. And PSG certainly aren't looking to just get the ball forward as quickly as possible.
