Bournemouth (A) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

The performance of Dias has also been overlooked. He won everything. He was my MOTM for instilling a warrior like approach to City's defending. He played exactly the same way for Portugal in the international window.

Have City found a solid back 4 in: Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol and O'Reilly? I know we didn't play that in the 2nd half but we could field that if we wanted.

I didnt think we were shit first half tbh. We played just as well but we didnt score. Not seen the stats for that first half but it felt like we just below the level of the 2nd half but we scored the goals in the 2nd half.

It feels like Pep has given the A-team (KDB, Kova, Gundog, etc ) a break lately and been trusting the new players for their intensity and hard work. I wonder if Pep has been playing off the new guys against the older guys to get the intensity back from kevin and gundog etc. They seemed like they were back to normal yesterday, some really good passages of play like old.
Tbh I am quite hopeful for the rest of the season now. I do hope we have our mojo back.
I wasn't too hopeful when I saw KDB in midfield but he did well. That's probably the best I have seen him play in a while. Realistically we probably can't expect to see City play high intensity football from KDB every 3-4 days but apart from Leicester, it's largely going to be one game a week from now on.

Last Monday I posted on here that we would win the match and go on to win the cup, a week on and I'm still thinking the same, hopefully a good run between now and end of the season with a 3rd place (at least) finish also

I disagree. Bournemouth were dangerous on the counter but we could easily have scored 3 goals. You can't be happy when we miss chances but the performance in the first half was not sh'te, not in my opinion anyway. We bossed the 2nd half. I think the effect of the equaliser gave us some belief and damaged Bournemouth who have been on a bad run recently and who were missing players.
Completely agree with the second half but that first half was terrible. We could have scored 3 goals, only one of them chances was through a chance we created, even the penalty was a handball and not a defender having to last ditch stop us. We gave it away countless times, the ball was a hot potato, Ederson kicked it out for throw ins at least 3 times in the first ten minutes. We couldn't keep hold of the ball and another needless mistake lead to their goal. I will say it again, if the first half wasn't bad then there is no chance Pep makes a sub. He never does early unless it is going very wrong.

Forest away is an awful draw - the way they beat us and Brighton was horrible to watch, cynical, scabby bastards, hate 'em

We was shite first half. We could barely string two passes together and the chances which fell to us we missed horribly. Ederson kicking the ball into touch constantly, unforced errors constantly, it really was a poor first half. That is exactly why a half time change was made, who'd have thought Gvardiol playing centre half might work and who'd have thought a bit of pace and energy may create a direct dynamic.

If the first half was as ok as some think, the sub and tactical changes would not have happened.
I agree that City weren't great in the first half.
But, as I didn't agree with the team or formation, I was expecting a hammering from Bournemouth (as in the previous game down there).
Although City were nervous in the first half, with nobody playing that well, City had 4 very good chances.
Thankfully, Bournemouth seemed toothless in the second half and our "legends" controlled the game.
Both KDB & Bernardo had very good games, with excellent performances from Nico, Jack & Marmouch.
Also moving Josko into the middle stopped any high balls over the top.
Have been impressed with Semanayo(?) & Kluivert, but both were anonymous in the second half - so the switch also snuffed them out.
Well done City for a combative, controlling performance, also glad that Pep changed things early and made the correct substitutions...

It’s not Forest away. They’re away to us at our southern stadium - & we’ve already beaten them 3-0 at home this season

Alls well that ends well eh.

We should try that against Leicester. They are no great shakes and we should hardly be under pressure for most of the game. If it looks good, same against the scum. Win the next two games and we can go on a roll to win, or get at least a draw against all the rest.

Absolutely, second half was great, good subs and playing a centre half at centre half proved a real game changer along with pace and energy. Fingers crossed that is taken into our next game, rather than revert to type.

i thought Dias was quite weak in the 1st half, in an admittedly under-par half in general, but he stepped up in the 2nd after shuffling across. The whole back line was transformed, actually.

game of two halves, first one was poor in tempo, running, tackles, passing etc.
second half much better mainly because we were behind and Pep gave them a rocket half time probably.

there aint other side who gets punished so much for missing chances tho. 3 good chances for us we miss and then first attack from Bournemouth = goal, this keeps happening so much honestly dont see this in games of Arse or dippers.

Spot on Marvin. Dias was excellent and hopefully back to his best. A Gvardiol and Dias CB pairing makes sense.

Must be my first ever correct score. Well done our boys in blue and never shall enter the cesspit of the match forum again.

Protein Junkie

Twatwell reffing.

Lump on Bournemouth winning thanks to him.
I was checking the odds at Ladbrokes the other day and we were “Evens” where as we are normally odds on.
Seems there’s more than normal lumping on the Cherries.
2-1 City btw.

Spot on Marvin. Apparently though Dias has been terrible for two years according to some know nowts on here. He was immense on Sunday
