For me he's earned a starting spot on weds. I'd put him at LB as he had a great game there. Up to Pep whether he drops Gvardiol or Khusanov. Though Gvardiol had a great game at CB though. Funny that isn't it. Play him at his natural position and he looks way more comfortable!

With Haaland injury I wonder if he will get a run out up top. He’s used to playing further forward and provides speed and physicality.

Since he's hot property at this moment in time here's a good & fairly recent video interview conducted by top class Blue Nedum located on the City website.

Comes across as respectful but with a Cole Palmer-esque confidence in his ability. Plus, he's come full circle as he does mention initially starting out as left back during his younger days - good watch.
So he is a left back after all. Can someone let the whiners know that Left back is actually one of Nico's 'natural' positions... Whatever the fuck that means.

I have always been of the opinion that a players best position, is where he brst helps his team relative to everyone else on the team. I'm glad Pep sees ot that way too...

I feel like Khusanov could do with a rest, but the issue is no-one else in our defence has that covering pace.

Khusanov goes to RB, Gvardiol to LCB. Dias, Gvardiol, Khusanov are the foundation of our back 4 for the years to come. It's them three 3 plus + 1. None of them should be dropped.

Sure, we’ve done that a fair bit ourselves. I just feel like we’ve looked better this season on the occasions where we pushed both fullbacks high and wide
I've liked the double wide fullbacks as well.

No reason not to mix it up a bit depending on the personnel available.

That system currently won't work without Nunes, Lewis cannot do that.

With Savinho available at RW, I can see the argument of setting up like Barca, wherein the LB goes wide, the LW inverts, but the RW stays wide.

The only thing is (I always say this), young players are very inconsistent and rarely play well the game soonafter a great performance.

did we just not have kyle walker starting 90% of games at RB for the last 8 years??? that turned out ok
Our current RB ain’t the defensive beast he was. Also just because it turned out okay doesn’t mean it will last forever

Walker was a natural right-back. Yes his delivery was wildly inconsistent but his overlapping runs were a reliable part of our attacking game, particularly when we had Bernardo/Mahrez coming in from that flank

I don't see any of that from Khusanov
