PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I can see the outcome being months away, as the charges are the punishment.

I keep reading that chelsea have used a loophole to escape sanction but surely they have operated within, albeit poorly drafted, the regulations
That they can pass the Premier League's financial regulations show that the system was not designed to be equitable and rigorous but it was a set of rules designed to target Manchester City.

The Chelsea procedure must be a huge embarrassment for the Premier League.

In a way both but as we all know the onus is on the PL to provide proof beyond reasonable doubt on matters not self reported .

The real meaty accusation's don’t appear to have been self reported so the PL had to investigate. Masters told us an investigation was ongoing and the one real snippet was that it’s claimed to be far more complex given there are new owners.

Add to the pot the new owners claim no knowledge, there doesn’t appear to be a paper trail within Chelsea’s archives otherwise it could be argued these matters too would have been reported following DD.

The one thing that intrigued me and to a degree blows my last comment out the water is why did the owners hold back in excess of £100 million from the sale to

Only the balance of probabilities, I am afraid.

And if Chelsea have already admitted off-the-books payments as a procedure, the PL may not need much more to convince a panel than the circumstantial evidence, especially if the club can't provide counter-evidence.

Let's face it, the PL has caused huge trouble to City based on similar circumstantial evidence without an admission of any guilt on any issue from the club and even when they know reams of counter-evidence will be provided.

Anyway, enough.

Note how long they gave the parties to check for typos (although someone did tell me today that City's expectation is that they would receive the decision the same day as release). 1 whole month!

Someone told you the club would get the award for the first time the same day as it is released to the public?

On the balance of probabilities, I fancy our chances with our years of signed off audited accounts that were accepted by the PL, and the promise of 'irrefutable' evidence provided by operators to whom public shame would be anathema.

The important part of our statement for me has always been ""As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all"..

It HAS to be done and dusted either way, we can't go on like this. With UEFA and PL accusations we've been under a cloud for 4/5 years now. It's draining and fair play to the squad for operating under that scrutiny. What could we have won without it!
