Films that get better the more you watch them

I don’t think there are any films that get better the more you watch them. I think a second or third viewing might reveal (often minor) points you hadn’t noticed first time, but I don’t think the viewing experience of a great film is ever greater or more impactful on you as a viewer than the very first time you see it.

Just my view anyway.

Interstellar

It's my favourite film of all time and it still gets better every time I watch it.

Incredible film. A true modern masterpiece, everything about it is perfect.

City of God is one I can watch over and over again, just great from start to finish, no other film like it. Its funny, sad, thrilling and beautiful all at once.

Aliens, just watched again on Disney Plus. Best in the series.

Aliens (Alien 2) is a good call.
Saw it first time without knowing how good it was.
Better second and third time.

It is very rare to find a film that gets better each time you watch it. Shawshank Redemption initially springs to mind for me which I am sure will divide people 50-50....

However. Watched Shaun of the Dead again the other day after a few years and I don't know why, but it seems to get funnier every time I watch it.

What films do people find that get better when they watch them again?

As soon as i saw the title I straight away thought of the Shawshank Redemption.

Blazing Saddles for me.
I still love those old Marx Brothers films, way ahead of their time, and still try to catch them when they are on tv.

Mississippi Burning. A film Based on true heartbreaking events, starring my favourite actor Gene Hackman.

A film I found myself watching every time it came on.

Tatum O'Neal is pure brilliance in this.

I was so fascinated by the father-daughter dynamics in this.

Lady Bird.

Watch it once from the daughter's perspective. Watch it a second time from the mum's perspective. Watch it a third (fourth, fifth, sixth) time knowing that both of their perspectives being viewed equally is what makes the story so strong.

For me, when I was a kid, it was this film and I watched it a few times at the cinema. I'm pretty sure this trailer made me curious...



This film inspired me to chill and take in the world, actually.

Jimmy Grimble….. keeps Maine Road alive and the final words from Jimmy to the rags scout is so true today.
