United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Looked like we came to play for a 0-0
No intent in scoring in the second half
Seen so many of those kind of performances this season, and sporadically over the years even when we were winning

Just write the season off, I’ll take 5th
Don’t think we’ll win the cup either.

Really really bad, no fight
I think it was more quality that was missing than fight
A draw is neither here nor there to them. They also have a very important Europa game on Thursday. I think Pep knows our limitations now and a point was the plan all along. He is banking on home wins and an away win at Southampton I think,

Winning the CL to this in 2 years. The signings have been atrocious. I can’t see this squad winning titles anytime soon unless we add at least 3 top class players to it.
Yep, I agree about the signings ...... they definitely haven't been of the quality needed to keep us at the top.

Don’t start talking the truth on here, you will soon be called the c word by some old fart.
Yeah, or a rag. They have been at it all season. They will make excuses for the remainder of the season. Their loyalty is admirable but misguided.

Passion is the word .... and lack of, by both Manchester teams. The Derby doesn't mean anything now to the "Manchester" teams....it's just another fixture for both . Whilst the fans dual banter all year long and spend good money, the desire by the footballers just isn't there. It's littered with international mercenaries and the odd Manc who has thrown the towel in swamped by big money signings.

Come on what? We drew a game.

And posters on here want the manager out, who delivered us 4 titles in a row just last season.
We are on the slide. The intensity has gone. Our standards have dropped. The hunger pep has stoked appears to have deserted us. Questionable team selections have been plentiful this year. We look unfit and poorly coached. We have lost to some shit teams multiple times this year. We have capitulated in multiple games. Today’s draw was nothing to do with my comment about pep. I genuinely mean it. Rebuild is needed - is he the man?

worst thing was the lack of drive to get a late winner. we had no attempt at all in the last 15 mins or so.

Marmoush had a long shot effort after the freekick one maybe 75th min or so. nothing after that.

how other get late winners this season? certainly not by not even having an attempt.
We collectively tightened our sphincters from 75 to 90, PTSD from the Etihad December game

What makes you believe he is better than Alvarez?

Alvarez is a top class striker and has proved that both here and now at his new club....Marmoush looks good but I dont think he is as good as Alvarez....yet...and Alvarez is younger

If we hadnt have had Erling Id have Alvarez over a lot of other strikers our there...you have to remember Alvarez played out of position quite often for us....
Alvarez is 25, only a year younger than Marmoush. I believe ww sold

Alvarez only a year younger than Marmoush. And tbf, Alvarez has been out of form since the WC. He's form hasn't picked up yet either, after playing 80 mins for Atlético Madrid every game. We got paid well and he didn't wanted to be on the bench and demanded transfer. It was fair to release him. Bobb will fill the Alvarez gap when he's playable again..

A treble, 100 points, 4 titles in a row... one not so great season and you're seriously saying Pep might not be the man?

I think you'll be begging for him to be back after he's gone.

What has Pep done THIS season that makes you think he is the right man. Wrong selections, wrong tactics, wrong recruitment and a repeat of the same mistakes every single week. Wenger had a shelf life, Jose had a shelf life, sometimes it happens with managers. I hope it isn't the end for Pep obviously but what has he provided this season to give you any confidence. He has given us the best years of our lives and you are right, the next manager won't bring the same levels but sometimes change is for the best

High risk high return they say

Pep was not willing to take risk, he wanted more possession and he got what he wanted.
Agreed.

Unfortunately that's not what Pep associates himself with in terms of his philosophy.

We all know Pep and as fans who have watched Peps football since he's arrived at the club we all know he goes into every game wanting to win.

Pep has been amazing. No doubt. He’s probably the best manager ever. Top 3 at least. This year though he has looked fallible. Injuries have been unrelenting and player recruitment, which tbf isn’t solely on him, has definitely contributed. But the team have looked under cooked and under prepared this year. And the buck stops with the gaffer on that. The rebuild we have ahead is significant. If he is up for that then great. If we are turning in perfomances of the ilk we have seen today this time next year then it’s time to move on.

How could we get hammered, giving that we were facing possibly the worst United team since the Docherty years? Nobody hammered anybody. I think that's the point people are making, generally. There were no hammers to do any hammering. Both teams were armed with feather dusters.

The counterfactual is that with another manager and all the injuries we could be in the bottom half of the table or worse.
